OT! Tooth fairy topic had me thinking of this. My son turned 7 in December. He still has all his baby teeth. He says everyone in his class has lost some of their baby teeth. His aren't even loose. The Dentist says not to worry until he's 8, but it just seems weird. Anybody else have late bloomers?

My kids started to lose their's at 5 and 6 but I have a friend whose son didn't start loosing teeth until 7 or so. I remember that he was the only one in his class that hadn't lost any.

late bloomer here... she just turned 7 and everyone in her class has lost them most of them last year . makes her mad but i don't think i lost mine until i was 8 :confused3

Hi! 1st grade teacher here :teacher:

There are several children in my class who haven't lost any teeth yet.

I know this because it's "Dental Health Month" & we've been reading books/discussing/creating graphs about teeth for the past 3 weeks.

**So I wouldn't worry yet. :)

My daughter lost her first bottom tooth the summer between 2nd and 3rd grade. Most of the kids had quite a few of their adult teeth by then, but the dentist assured me she was just slow. She's 12 now and is still behind the other kids, but her adult teeth are all there and coming in, just at a slower rate. Some kids are like that, he's not alone. My dentist says that since she's getting her adult teeth late, she is more mature and more able and willing to take care of the teeth she's going to have for the rest of her life.

My DDs are still little, but I remember losing mine when I was 8 1/2. It was right before Christmas in 3rd grade, and I lost all 4 across the top within a very short time!

Thanks guys. I'll be able to tell him he's not alone. He should feel a little better then. He just wants to be a big boy sooo bad. Having baby teeth is not so cool I guess.

My DS isn't old enough to lose teeth yet, but I know I didn't start losing mine until I was almost 8 years old. Of course, I didn't actually get my baby teeth until I was over a year old either. And I was still losing baby teeth in junior high. I remember being thrilled to get to leave during the middle of 8th grade algebra when one of my teeth fell out and it freaked out the teacher. :lmao:

:goodvibes your dentist is right don't worry. most kids lose them between 5-6,but some not until 7 &8! there is nothing wrong! some kids get teeth earlier than others!!!! some babies dont get their bottom teeth until 1-2! so that means they want lose them to later!!!! when did your child get their baby teeth? your dentist has the best advice -don't worry!

both of mine lost them when they were 6. My oldest daughter was obne of the last ones to lose her first tooth in her class and i felt bad for her because she was dying to lose one. But i secretly wished they would fall out later because they have a long life with their adult teeth.

My oldest turned 8 this week and has only lost 5 so far. My youngest is 6 1/2 and has only lost 2.

My oldest DD will be 7 in June and we don't even have a tooth that wiggles yet, she keeps asking me when its going to happen, everyone else in her class has lost teeth already too:)

My 6 year old has been wiggling her teeth like mad ... they aren't budging! I keep telling her not to get her hopes up b/c I didn't lose a tooth until I was in the 2nd grade and almost 8 years old (I distinctly remember being upset b/c my 1st grade teacher had a new giant paper tooth hanging on a cupboard every month for kids to sign if they lost a tooth ... I never got to sign that friggin' tooth and I'm still bitter. I'm 36 now ...:rolleyes1 ).

DS was 2 weeks shy of 7, in the 1st grade. He'd been upset in kindergarten because his teacher had a poster too - but we told him the later you lose them, the more room they have to come in, and the less your chance of needing braces later. The tooth fairy also left him an extra special present whent he first one did come out, because he'd waited so long.

DS lost his first 4 teeth all at once at 20 months.

Yea, he had an accident, fell from a pub style chair in our breakfast area. Worst day for mommy. He had to have another one pulled about 2 yrs ago because it was damaged in the fall and was stitched back in but did not take.

DD7 started losing hers the natural way around 5.5. She lost 5 teeth in her Kgarten year and was all proud because she was the leader! She was the youngest, smallest, slowest, etc but first with losing teeth. Several of her friends did not lose any until 1st grade.

Julia was only 4.5 when she lost her first tooth! She is now just 6, and the Tooth Fairy just came for the 7th time this week! :wizard: Yes, she is very early.

My twins were both several months past 7 when they lost their first teeth. Many in their class had lost several already- even younger kids. Dentist said not to worry- they were perfectly normal :)

They are nearly 8 and a half now & DD has only lost 3 (has a few wiggly ones). DS has lost 6.

My oldest was at least 7 before he lost his first tooth. My middle will be 6 next month and no sign of any loose teeth so I'm guessing he'll be like his older brother.

My DD11 lost her first tooth when she was 4 and my DS6 (he will be 7 in JUne) just lost his first tooth on Valentines Day.

My twins were 7 in November and started losing teeth at age 5. They are both now wearing expanding retainers to widen their jaws, I wish we just losing teeth.
