It is great if you like workbooks and structured curriculum. We used it our very first year, since my DS had gone to a Christian school for Kindergarten and they used BJU. For me, it really "held my hand" in telling me exactly what I needed each day, for each subject. For my son, it was familiar to him.
I've moved on to less structured stuff since then, but I did really like it when we used it. Oh, and depending on the grade level you are dealing with, it only takes a few hours per day. For lower elementary level (when we used it), we were usually done by lunch time every day! You could break it up, though, if you wanted to stretch it out more.
