What is a good value priced hotel to stay at while there?
Summer is almost over and I'm trying so hard to get us to Hershey before school starts! I'm planning on just staying one night.

Hilton garden Inn in Hershey often has good rates. Not sure how much you want to spend. What I would do if I were you is to check Expedia.com for prices on area hotels. Then if you find a hotel with a good rate, go to tripadvisor.com and see what it's rating is on there. On that site you can see traveler photos of most hotels and read reviews. It's a great site and I never book a place without checking there first.

I was trying to get a trip in before school starts too and last week I checked for this weekend and I found some decent rates, like $115 a night at a Comfort Inn that is in Hershey very close to the park.

Good luck!

Does anyone know the height req for Hershey bar? My middle DD is hoping to be tall enough for more ride this year. :goodvibes

I think she was just big enough for Reece last year so I don;t think it is poss but it could have been 2 years ago. Time goes so fast and last summer was a blur too with my Dad's knee replacement we only got there 2 times.

I don;'t know what type tickets you bought, I am assuming it is 1 day with a one night stay at the lodge. If so, don;t forget there is an early preview the night before depending on the day and closing time. 6. or 7 pm. I would go to the Chocloate world tour, it is about a 10 minute ride, the line goes quick. The 3-d show is nice, like Muppet vision at Disney. The little making chocolate tour in that same building is noce for kids,

I took the Trolly tour for the first time and loved it, lots of area history in the tour. Also there is a museum there that has tons of local history and Indian artifacts, etc. They close early. The Chocolate world tour is open late .

I have not been down since Boardwalk opened. Would love to go, But I do remembere the last park trip we stayed for the Firework/lights display up in the midway area at the back of the park and I LOVED IT!

There are also the Gardens at the Hershey Hotel. I was planning on the drive down soon as DH has yearly at Hershey medical center and we spend a day or two.

I have not been to the Gardens in years and wonder if they are nice to spend som devoted time for photography?
I am talking 34 years the last I was at them!

HAVE FUN.

I've never heard of a breakfast in the park being offered. It is probably a perk offered only to those staying at the Hotel Hershey or Hershey Lodge.

Correct. This breakfast is only offered to those staying at their own Hotel or Lodge.

Ok, just an update, now that we are back.

It was lots of fun- wish we could have stayed longer.

I want to go do a full review on Hersheyboards, but I couldn't get registered... will work on that.

We stayed at the Hershey Lodge, which was very nice. At WDW, we always stay at a moderate, and the HL was definitely nicer than that (though more expensive, too). I enjoyed that I could get to the lobby from our room without going outside- though it was quite a walk. Great for a late night snack.

The shuttle to/from the park was great. Better than WDW buses, in some ways. Seats were padded and comfy, strollers were stowed in underneath storage compartment, not lugged on the bus. And whenever one bus pulled away full and left more people waiting, another bus was there in less than five minutes. In fact, in three days, we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus that I can remember.

DD and I hadn't planned to do the museum, but we got free tickets at the Lodge, and had a little more time so we went, and we really enjoyed it. DD10 enjoys history and can appreciate and pay attention to detail, so it worked for her. Had my ds4 gone, I don't think he would have gotten much out of it though.

Breakfast in the park was delicious. The bread came with chocolate butter- yum! It wasn't technically in the park. It was at the Tudor Grill, which is just outside the gates, so I guess you could actually do the breakfast, without park tickets, and just do Chocolate world after breakfast. Though you do need to be a guest at the Lodge, Hotel, or campground. It was similar to a WDW character breakfast. One difference- the characters were waiting for our arrival at the shuttle stop as we got off. So, you could do meet/greet/photos before entering the restaurant. The characters, as well as a strolling musician and juggler, were in the restaurant during the breakfast, too.

Speaking of characters, there doesn't seem to be much organization to the meetings. Guests didn't really stay in line, and just tended to mingle around the character trying to be next. At least at the breakfast and at the Lodge that was the case. We didn't do any meets in the park, so that may have been more organized. Anyway, it kind of disappointed my dd, because she is not very assertive, she she is not one to jostle her way to the front of the group. So, even when we would arrive first, she was always last to meet. She is used to WDW, where things are a little more formal.

My dd liked zooamerica, but we only need about an hour for it.

Reeses cup challenge was open during the sweet start, with about a 10- minute wait, so we rode that, and really liked it. We loved the Great Candy caper show, too. It reminded us of the Sea World Clyde and Seymore Pirate show, with Sea Lions.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions! We had a great time!

I think the Hershey bar is 48 inches.

Thanks Mindy, she made it and had a Great time this year. My oldest is about 1 inch shorter than the next level and is already talking about next year which rides she and Daddy will ride.:rotfl: They ride more rides than I do, already.

scjo68~It sounds like you all had a really good time in Hershey.

It's funny, when you live close by, you go and do the things you really like and don't pay attention to the little things.

Perhaps next time, I should stop and "smell the chocolate". Well . . . that's actually one thing that I DO do, but you know what I mean.
