I was in the other room printing off pictures for DS 2 1/2 and my nanny charge, that is also 2 1/2, to color. I came back and they had colored the backs of our wood nook benches with white crayon and a lot of it! They also colored their plastic booster seats. I was gone 3 minutes! I'm impressed and very mad all at the same time. :) I can't get it out with various products I'm using, anyone have any ideas???

mr clean magic eraser....just be careful on anything pained because it can take the paint off

They really work amazingly well for this. It just wipes right off. All 3 of my kids have colored on the walls/doors/etc. and it comes off so easily.

We had an incident of melted crayons in the dryer. That's where I first learned about the Magic Eraser. :headache:

I agree magic erraser is awsome - doesnt work on red sharpie though . . .

as three minutes alone with a red sharpie proved

Magic erasers are GREAT!! For crayon you can also try using a hair dryer to soften the wax of the crayon, then just wipe off.

Visit the Crayola website - they have an extensive list of ways to get crayon off of specific items.

OMG Whiperwhill,
Thanks for the picture and making me laugh, bringing back memories.

I was having a terribly emotional draining day and this was just what I needed. I am sorry for your trouble there, but I remember the same days with the kids when they were young. INcluding nail polish RED on athe Easter outfit and new Floor model TV as glue for the pictures painted with nail polish.

Oh, and then there are the Poopie cribs mess or where ever they choose a spot to hide and play with it.....

My heart was heavy, but now after a good belly laugh, it is lightend! :lovestruc

Magic erasures do work great but be careful. DS's pre school set home an article last year about how the chemicals in them will burn childrens skin. :scared1: Please don't let your kids use them!

I agree that the Magic Eraser works best. "Desolve it" that orange oil based cleaner will also work well on painted wood surfaces.

I know this well because I had to go over to my SIL's house and remove crayon from a dresser that my daughter(then 2-3) decorated while being baby-sat by her. When she first told me what had happened I thought she needed tips for removing it, so I told her what to use. Well, she kept mentioning it and I finally figured out that she thought I was responsible to come and clean it up!! It took like five minutes of actual cleaning time and I was livid. I mean...if you leave a toddler unsupervised with crayons, aren't you kind of asking for trouble?

Sorry, to the poor Sharpie victims! OMG...if it had been a sharpie at my SIL's I would have been expected to buy her new furniture!!

I guess I'm still mad this happened...I need to let it go, it's been 14 years since it happened!

Don't worry. That was a hoax.

dd2 got a black sharpie last night a colored all over my brand new ceder chest and bookcase! I almost died lol i went a grabbed the magic eraser and it ALL CAME OFF with no problem.....wheeew that saved her little hiney lol (jk)

Also. try rubbing alchol. works wonders at getting ink and sharpie out of clothes and pretty much everything. We use it at work to get hairspray off eyeglasses.

Worked great! Whipperwhirl!!!!! Oh my goodness!!! What did you end up doing ?

After I ran for the camera - I Laughed really loud.

Then I cried when I realized it wasnt comming clean by normal methods.

Then I painted the wall dark blue, replaced the bench cover and we live with the red in the carpet.

Love that moment though when they know they have really messed up - I was lucky enough to get a photo of it to show his girlfriends some day :)

Here is a trick to getting crayons or spilled candle wax off of any heat-safe surface:

We spilled bright red candle wax on our carpet before and I found this method online:

Take a brown paper bag and a hot iron. Put the paper bag over the wax and put the iron over the paper bag. The heat will remelt the wax and the paper bag then absorbs it. It worked great for me! Just make sure the surface is heat-safe.
