OT - Good school fundraiser ideas needed...

Our local McDonald's had a school fundraiser. On that particular evening, the school earned a percentage of the sales. The teachers were working the cash registers, selling McDonald's plates and collecting money through what they called holler for a dollar. The teachers had huge buckets and anytime someone would put a dollar in the bucket everyone would scream and yell. Seems like they also rang a bell too. You could not even get in the place. I don't remember how much they made, but it was a lot of fun.

Another thing the school does is an art fundraiser. The children pick out their favorite piece of artwork and the parent purchases it at the art show. The money raised goes to the art program. You do not have to purchase it because it will come home anyway, but it just makes the children feel good to see a sold sign on their art. You can donate whatever you want.

The PE class sells insulated cups with school mascot and some other college mascots on them.

They also do a spring fling with an auction. Local businesses donate items and the classes make themed baskets with class donated items. I know the one from my son's class went for $125. The classes pair up to make them. While I was paying for the item I won, there was a woman paying for 2 things she had won. It was $756. :scared1: I believe one of her winnings was a vacation. There is also an auction for the spot of first car in the car rider line. It usually goes for between $200-$300. There is an auction for making announcements with the principal, eating lunch with the asst. principal and other things along this line. We have carnival rides, cake walks and all types of things you would expect for a small fair.

They also have a Santa Shop, Entertainment Books, Art to Remember, pictures with Santa, school pictures twice during the year as well as a class picture, t shirt, magnet, sports bottle and catalog sales. They also collect box tops and labels for education.

I think fundraising is going to depend on the support you can get from the parents and the community businesses(for donated items). This is a very well supported school. The area it is in was voted as one of the top 100 places to live.:thumbsup2 If you don't have the parental support, nothing will do well.

Good Luck with whatever you do.
