OT: Getting to Manhattan from JFK

We are thinking for going to New York this summer via JetBlue out of Buffalo.

JetBlue flies into JFK. We are a family of 5 (kids 10, 8, and 4). Does anybody have any recommendations for transportation options for getting from JFK airport to Manhattan?

We would prefer not to have to take two separate cabs.

one option is Airtran - takes you to Jamaica Railroad station where you could hop on the Long Island Railroad to Penn Station at 34th Street in midtown manhattan. Not the quickest option.

We just booked a car service but honestly I can't remember exactly the name of the company, but I know it was about $75 each way and that was last August.

We loved Manhattan, we took our DD for her 16th birthday it was awesome

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn, just a few streets south of the Empire State Building it was really cheap compared to other area hotels and it was really nice. Included breaky. It was right across from a pickberrys also which is awesome frozen yogurt.

We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and found a great Pizza Place called Grimaldi's....it was lined up 30 mins before the restaurant even openned, and down the street was a nice pier that alot of bridges where getting photos done and it is a great view of the NYC skyline. We then just took the boat back across to Manhattan.

You can wait abit at the A/P and hope for a Mini-van that accomodates all 5. We have been many times when we are 5 or 6 people and done that. Should cost around $50 plus tip. Have fun!!! It's a great city..my DD22 is going to school there this coming Fall.

Found the company we used from JFK to Manhattan it was Dial7.com

Also check jetblue. DH and I just booked a weekend trip and flights Buffalo to JFK was $240 US return, direct flights for both of us.

If you book approx 3 weeks prior..you can often get one way fares to JFK for $44 USD pp.

We've been taking advantage of that a fair bit of late....

Yupper, that is what we got $44 down and $54 back. We could have gotten $44 back as well but we picked a later flight to come home.

I can't wait I love NYC so we decided a quick trip for our 22nd wedding anniversary!!!
