We are visiting my in laws who do winters in Palm Beach Gardens FL later this month. They are fun active grandparents and we love them and can't wait to visit but we need something fun to do.

In MA the full time home we have lots of great things we enjoy together but in FL we (they) are kind of stuck in a rut esp when it comes to things we can all do together.

We have some few rest's but the kids are bored with the zoo, mall, pool beach, getting older and want something new this trip. They are 12 and 10 and up for pretty much anything, I can also count on them to behave and enjoy any situation.

sooooo -----
I am trying to find some fun things my in-laws will enjoy but not have thought of themselves - a new treat for us and them. Family appropriate and near the palm beach area. I was thinking of a murder mystery dinner theater type thing but even a sunset dinner cruise would do.

There is so much to do in other areas of florida but I am coming up empty on my palm beach area searches :(

If anyone lives in the area or visits enough to suggest something I would really appreciate that.

TIA
TJ

There is a dinner cruise in Delray Beach at Atlantic Ave Intercoastal bridge...I can't think of the name of it and we haven't done it yet either. We keep saying we will, but never have the time for it.

Also, in Palm Beach, you must eat at Johnny's on the Ocean at their take out window. You get these Detroit Sliders a sack of them, 6 fries and cole slaw and just eat there on the boardwalk. We also get their fish and chips. We get one order of each and its enough lunch for me, the DKs and my parents. That's probably our favorite "to do" when we visit.

We took the Jungle Queen Cruise in Fort Lauderdale last Feb, it was OK, it was just so darn cold, we couldn't enjoy it - they take you on the Intercoastal through Millionaire's Row, Very Very Touristy but still cool to see.

Drinks and Shrimp cocktail at the Breakers is always enjoyable, as is the tour of Flagler's Home.

The zoo in Palm Beach is probably the funniest zoo we've ever been to. DH and I said that this must be where animals come to retire...it seemed like they were all old and dead.:rotfl2:

I've never done Lion Country Safari, it just seems stupid to pay $100 to drive your car through there. We did this when I was young and I remember being scared, maybe that's why I don't want to do it. :rolleyes1

LOL Thanks.

Unfortunately the few things we have done are the flaglers zoo and the lion country drive throug - LOL about the retired animals but so true.

Definately taking notes on the other ideas!

Go to Boca and to the Red reef park. There is an artificial reef just a few feet out during low tide and deeper in high. I love it there and to see marine life on the reef is wonderful.

If the seas are high we just boogie board until we get maytaged! There is also Gumbo Limbo marine school which is across the street from Red reef, it is free and so much fun. They have different exhibits with marine life, tanks and educational stops.

I like to take the train down to Miami and then to the zoo or Biscayne bay, just a few dollars.

Mizner park in Boca has outside concerts during the summer for free and it is so nice to lay a blanket down and enjoy.

Polo on Sunday morning with mimosas.

PM if I can help you with other ideas. I haven't been back in about a decade and my ideas may be old.

Tuesday mornings they have a free tour of the Boca Raton hotel. It is a Lloyd Wright building and a beautiful pink!

Again, I would check as this is from my memories. The breakers are fun to stay at or just visit.

Go to the beach and look for sharks teeth or sea shells. Take a water taxi in Miami and look at big homes.

There's a great park for kids in Boca called Sugar Sands. It has an excellent carousel, swings, a splash area, and lots of structures for climbing.

Years ago I lived in West Palm and also in Broward county, and I'll be honest with you I don't remember what is in Palm Beach county vs. Broward county, so my apologies if this isn't accurate. Butterfly World is a lot of fun. Lion Country Safari is alright. I don't know how much it costs now, but I've heard it is too expensive now. One thing that would be fun is to go diving. Many places offer 1 day certification courses. I think the age limit is 10, but I could be wrong. Some of the best diving (outside the keyes) is in Palm Beach county. It is almost all drift diving which is the best -- very easy and relaxing. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Oh, there is also a fairly decent Water Park, but I can't remember the name. It certainly isn't Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, but it's alright. At least there used to be one around there.
