Ok, I know there are many fellow DISers that are nurses, so this question is for you!

I am flying next weekend from LaGuardia (NYC) to O'Hare (Chicago) - argueably two of the busiest airports in the US. It's a solo trip to visit a friend for the weekend. I used FF miles so if there is any federal restriction on flying in the next week or so, I'm not out any money.

Should I be concerned? I usually wipe down my tray table with Lysol wipes when getting on a plane, but I have visions of security in NY handing out surgical masks...

I'm sure this is me making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I'd love to hear the advice from fellow travellers and DISers. I wonder specifically about the air vents on the plane -- to open them or not? Typically I close them so I'm not breathing in the recirculated air from the rest of the plane. I read today (I think on CNN.com) that commercial aircraft do not have mandatory HEPA filters for those vents.

Thanks in advance!

As an RN, personally I wouldn't stress at this point.Just keep an eye on the news the next few days, and practice universal precautions

Thanks Bob! Good thread. And thanks RMulieri - makes me feel better to hear that from an RN.
