Hey! Any ideas around $15? I was thinking about getting the Leapfrog Fridge Farm but have been unable to find it so far.

TIA!

Things that chalange their new mobility skills are great toys. A push toy or a foot ride on toy. Big balls, or large not too heavy blocks are also fun. Picture books or some oversized crayons or finger paints. Water toys or a baby float for the pool. Summer clothes are always welcome as a one you old would need all new summer clothes!!

My DS is now 15 mos but at 12 mos I did buy the fridge farm. I bought it at Kaybee toys...not sure if there is one around you. He does like it, but like with everything, it's played with for a few minutes then we move on to something else. DVD's are nice and priced right around $15. My DS loves the Wiggles. I didn't expect he would, but his Aunt and Uncle bought him the Wiggly Wiggly World DVD and he just fell in love. My sister bought him pop-onz or something like that - pretty much at most TRU stores etc. They are sort of like leggos bur for kids 18 mos or so. He does pretty well with them and I think they will be keepers for a while.

Good luck.

Both my kids loved Fisher Price Little People at that age. They are a great gift for any toddler.

My almost 1 yr old loves the Little Mermaid. I got her the ride on Little Mermaid car (plays music, she can push herself on it) but its about double of what you want to spend. I also got her the Little Mermaid Mega Blocks type toy. She loves to play with my sons, and any type of blocks are supposed to be great. I found a cloth dollhouse that she can take anywhere. It has 4 rooms, a boy, girl, bed, and dog. Other ideas are these fridge magnet cogs that can be rearranged and spin around via battery powered cog. Playschool makes one, but the cogs are already mounted on a board and you are limited in the arrangements that can be made. As for the farm toy-Ive seen it at Walmart, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, and Target.

Sorry, forgot to add one more thing. I got my daughter the Fisher Price house toy. She absolutely loves it. It comes with two modes-learning (colors, numbers, alphabet) and music. Every time she does something (rings doorbell, turns on light, opens/closes window, door and mailbox, drops balls into the downspot, turns the hands on the clock/numbers on the front music plays, etc. She starts bopping up and down along with the music too. It also comes with a shape sorter. She can sit and play, crawl through the door, or stand to reach the stuff on the top. I think it runs around $60-again out of your price range, but something to think about. I did see one at a consignment shop, so maybe you could look around where you live.

Both of my kids loved and still play with their Little People. When they were 1 they usually just put them in and out and bit them, but they are a great toy to grow with a child. My DS2 now is making them talk to one another and likes to use the vehicles to most. My DD is 4 and now she sets up the farm, zoo and house and loads the kids in the school bus to go on field trips! Pretend play is such an important part of development and these toys lend themselves to be used for years to come. Plus you can find items appropriate for boys or girls and there is a price for everyone.

A funny story about the fridge farm- my DS got the fridge farm for his first birthday and we loved it because it kept him occupied while we were in the kitchen. One day I noticed that all but 2 pieces were gone- a cow head and a duck back. Unfortunately around this time he also learned how to operate the lid on the trash can and the only thing we can imagine is that he threw all of the pieces away! :rotfl2: We ended up replacing it, and he loves it and still plays with it.
