OT-Ebay question

How long do I wait before disputing a purchase with Paypal? I purchased an iPod on Wednesday night and paid immediately with Paypal. I have since sent two emails to the seller and have had absolutely no communication from the seller at all. I normally wouldn't worry, but this is an iPod and it was costly (vs. a Mickey polo shirt or something). I know it is early, but absolutely no communication scares me...

Every seller I have ever encountered on eBay has been very quick to communicate with me.....

I have encountered tons of sellers who don't respond, just ship out. I don't care for that practice but I seem to get it. I would give them until monday personally, due to the fact that maybe they are out of town (you can also see if they are listing more, if so then more then likely they should have answered you). I am not quick to open disputes, but on a costly item I would be worried.

Watch the item information as to whether it is listed as shipped. When you have a lot of auctions on, it can sometimes be very time consuming to answer all emails or send special ones out if one has already been sent out with the shipping costs etc. If payment was made and no additinal information was needed. I just mark the item shipped and put in a positive feedback. That is indicative that all is well with the transaction.

I am a seller, and had a buyer who sent me 10 messages within 3 days, it was my daughters birthday and we were away I do not advertise on ebay when I am going away for a couple of days....you never know. (when going away longer I do not list) by the time I got home she was sending threatening messages, once I explained she was so apologetic. They may just be away for a couple of days, have you checked feedback. It could also be some family problem.

I totally understand. I don't want to be like that lady. I will not do anything now until at least Monday. The listing just lists my payment info. There is nothing listed for shipping info. I have two other auctions that I won about the same time and both have shipped and both auctions list shipping info.

I did check the sellers feedback and it is 100% though the seller rating is only 13. I was a little skeptical but noticed he was selling a bunch of the same item and two people had already purchased the same item, received the item, and posted positive feedback. The seller also has nothing more for sale currently. So, my hope is he is out of town for the weekend. I paid with Paypal, so I have their backing if the deal goes bad, it is just a $150 transaction for an iPod for my DW birthday...

Totally agree! I hate saying I am going away, but also don't want people wondering. I sometimes turn on my automatic response, but to me it is like saying Hey, I am not home, come break in my house! You just never know now a days. I sell alot of local pick up only too so they would be somewhat nearby.

In order to qualify for the Paypal Seller Protection Policy, a seller has 7 days to ship an item after receiving Paypal payment, so I would give him at least 7 days from the dat eof the auctio close before i follow up.

Also, if he wants to be covered and the item sold for over $250, he should include signature confirmation instead of just delivery confirmation, so you will need to be home to sign for the package.
