OT-DS's 2 front teeth were chipped last night

My son broke his two front adult teeth a couple of years ago. The were broke diagonally too. He was 9 or 10 at the time. His has rebroken them 2 times already. My family makes fun of me everytime DS does something stupid or my brothers are harrassing him. They yell "watch his teeth." I still have the same pit over it that I have had. I don't think it gets better, I think you live with it...

Good Luck

I dropped a laptop on my face and chipped my tooth off

:scared1: How does one do this?!?

I'm sorry, it must have really hurt, but I'm just trying to picture how this happened!

OTOH, I forgot to mention that when DS broke his two front teeth, he fell. Off a chair. That he wasn't even standing on.

I'm still tring to figure that one out too, lol!

My son broke his front tooth diagonally about 3 months after it came in, he was 7 years old. First time on the floor of the gym at school, second time, baseball to the mouth, third time on his older brothers' head....he has had it bonded all 3 times, the last one lasting 2 years at this point. He eats apples, corn etc. and has had no problem...he also wears a mouth guard for every sport, no matter what. After the initial shock, he's really fine with it and I forget that it's not his...don't worry, you will too:)

I can feel your pain. This happened to me when I was about 10 years old. I first had the bonding and then when I got older I was able to get caps. I am due for a new set but knock on wood no one would ever know that they are not my real teeth. About 6 months ago, my dd chipped one of her front teeth. I went into full panic mode. The dentist filed it down a little and it is not too bad.
Good luck

First of all hugs to you!!:grouphug: I haven't gone through this as a mom... (yet--lol) But I did bust my teeth up multiple times as a kid. The first time I crashed on my bike and my teeth hit the pavement. Luckily only the bottom halves were gone so they could be saved. They did the caps or bonding or whatever it was they did back in the late 70's/early 80's. (Be thankful of the dental advancements...those things were ugly!! LOL) The other times I remember breaking them (there could be more than these) were when a friend came running out her garage door and hit me in the face with the screen door. Biting my nails or something hard and having one break off, sucking on a frozen 20 oz soda and one came off. That's all I remember for sure. :goodvibes I was very happy when I was old enough for the porcelain crowns! Those are gorgeous, and you would never know they aren't mine.

I'm sure your DS's will work out fine. Call the dentist back if you have more questions. Good thing he still had some teeth left to work with. My brother got hit in the face with a rock as a kid and had a removeable fake tooth. (See--not good luck with my family and teeth...DH always laughs at me when I warn the kids to be careful or they'll break their teeth out.) :lmao:

I was telling my office-mate about this today. He said, "Oh, I did that as a kid too." He showed me his tooth, but I couldn't tell at all. He said that his hasn't broken again in 20 years. Hopefully your DS will have the same good luck! :goodvibes

Have fun on your cruise!!! :)

It's a great question and one that I can't believe I did. Not the sharpest tool in the shed thats for sure. I was laying on the couch with my laptop propped on my legs which were up pretty high. I went to get off the couch without moving the laptop first and the whole thing tipped back on my face and took out half of my tooth diagonally. I was leaving for the dominican republic in 2 days and was darned if I was going toothless. I have to be given gas to have my teeth cleaned so I am not a good patient. I didn't mind them fixing me up at all it was no big deal and my tooth looks great. This is not an injury that will phase me now.

However when my daughter had her accident and all her teeth popped out and everything I had to be sedated and my neighbor actually smacked me for real I was so hysterical. I could not be consolled thats for sure. It is going to take at least another 7 years and probably over 10000 dollars out of pocket to have her teeth fixed and insurance doesnt pay any of that, but it will get done.
