OT - Disney Marathon

Wasn't sure where to post this, so since I read this board the most, it's here. If it has to be moved, please let me know where it got moved to.

Is anyone else doing the Disney Marathon or half-marathon in Jan. I'm registered for the half. Now I could be in trouble. I got an e-mail about the
WDW Marathon weekend.

For the 1/2 marathon, finishers get a Donald Duck Medal. Finishers in the Marathon get a Mickey Medal Now for the trouble part. Anyone who does both races gets the first ever Goofy medal I want a Goofy!!!

I'm having enough trouble training for the half. But I'm gonna have to get my butt in gear to get that Goofy medal

Be careful not to train too much if you are going for both!

I was training for the marathon a couple of years ago, doing 20 mile runs every Saturday. On what was to be my last 20 mile training run, 2 weeks prior to the race, I stress fractured my foot at mile 19 (and had to hop on one foot the remaining mile home!). It took me about 6 months before I could run decent mileage again, and to this day am still not in condition to try the marathon again. I had a child soon after, and while he liked to ride in the stroller while I was running when he was younger, that is no longer the case and sadly that means very rare opportunities for me to go running.

Hubby will be thrilled! We knew there was a special medal, but not exactly what it was. He already registered for both races. He has a few Mickeys and a Donald medal already - Goofy is a great addition!

I wonder if you get the Donald & Mickey ones as well?

As for training, DH is lucky if he runs once a week right now! I need to start pushing him since he is crazy planning to run both races this year.

I'm doing the half in 2006. I've done the full 2 times and the half last year. Oh, that Goofy medal sounds like something I'd like to have!!!!

There is a group on yahoo called team penguin-disney. I lurk around there. They follow John 'The Penguin' Bingham who advocates slower running for the average Joe. It's a fun group.

I may have to look at that Goofy medal!

I wonder if you get the Donald & Mickey ones as well?

According to the email, the Goofy medal is "..in addition to receiving the Donald Medal for the Half Marathon and the Mickey Medal for the Full Marathon."

I'm registered for the full, and haven't yet decided if I'm Goofy enough to try and do both.
