OT - Did you miss me?

I've been without my puter for the last four days! Was having problems and the dude at Gateway told me to reinstall my OS (Win 98). WELLLLL, I backed up all my important data (my quicken accounts) and reinstalled my OS. Now I can't retrieve the data off my floppies so that means 3 years of my checking account information are GONE!

Then had to wait until today for local cable guy to come out and figure out why I couldn't get online. I'm finally back. Withdrawal was terrible!!!!!

I'm going through the same thing with my computer. I got hit with a virus, so I reinstalled Windows ME. However, I had replaced the modem over the summer, and the reinstall didn't recognize the modem. So, my computer has been sitting in a computer repair place trying to figure out why for a week now, and I'm running off my laptop. I miss my computer!

Same thing happened to me Debi. I have a plug and play ethernet board and the drivers were downloaded, but it wouldn't acknowledge them. Thank goodness the cable guy was able to fix it for me!

Glad you are back - Funny last week my Gateway would not install a new printer that we had bought, after returning 4 Yes 4 printers (the guys at CompUSA thought my wife was nuts {I just couldn't return them - kind of like asking for directions when your lost})
I did bring the computer in to them and they said one of the kids cd games was conflicting with the USB ports so the computer did not recognize the printer. So I had to reinstall windows ME and everything else. Well after reinstalling the pogram Word was asking for a pass code. The computer came with everything installed when I bought it 3 years ago!! Do you know when I emailed Gateway they still had the pass codes and emailed them to me - very cool!!!
After all this computer mess I think we need some eggnog margarettas!!! (holiday and all that - I wonder what eggnog margarettas taste like???)

I did get that DARN Belt Virus on Sunday but I hopefully got rid of the little bug!

But the reason I have not been on much is a blew out my knee!

I twisted my ankle in a pothole in the yard that was covered up with leaves and fell and landed on my knee in the drive it was getting better then on Weds last I heard something pop and I have been on the sofa or hobbling ever since. It hurts to sit at the computer too long so that is why I have not been online much for the last week. I need to get out and shop! No black Friday for me LOL

Mal that sounds like something I would do! Because I'm tall everybody asks if I played sports in school. As if! If they ever made tripping a sport I'd be number one!!

As for an eggnog margarita -- I'll pass. I love eggnog but I'm not sure how that'd do for a margarita. But like you say, if takes the pain away then

blenders, we're on our way to the Volunteer state! Mal you should have flashed that big margarita glass light beacon in the sky so all us RP Bad Girls would know to come to your aid! I would have been down there last week during Thanksgiving vacation! Sorry to hear about your knee. Make sure you rest and keep off of it so it heals. DH has terrible ankles and is always falling and hurting himself.



sweetpea - I know what you mean. I posted that to keep my butt in gear, but I only started doing my shopping yesterday. Thank goodness for online shopping!

Yeah - kinda like the Bat Signal! We'd see that big margarita glass in the sky and head out to help our friend(s) in need!! I may have to come by sleigh since they're prediciting 4 - 8 inches of snow for us tonight.

I'm all for a road trip too. DH would not appreciate me up and leaving though. Too bad for him I'm feeling a little underappreciated now anyhow.

As for Christmas shopping -- I am nearly done!! Woo-hoo!! Anybody wanna come over and wrap the gifts for me though? I don't like the wrapping, only the shopping part. I'm just not very good at it.

We have two extra bedrooms so I think we could fit most in! LOL

I am trying to stay off of it as much as possible and keep a heating pad on it also. It seems to slowly be getting better at least I can bend it somewhat now.
