Hey all...I'm home today with a sick kid and last night he got a little puke on my light beige carpet. This morning I have these little yellow spots, does anyone know a home remedy to clean this up as I can't leave him to go to the store. I used to be able to spray windex on a spot and blot it off but it's not working...anyone have any other ideas for me to try today? Thanks so much.

Is it pile carpet or berber? If it's normal pile carpet, then you can use vinegar and water to clean it. Berber is a whole other story. I have beige/white pile and berber in my house and the vinegar/water trick has worked very well for my regular pile type carpet, but it left marks on my berber that won't come out (even with professional cleaning - same cat vomit stain on both carpets so it's definitely a fair comparison).

Good luck and I really hope your DS is feeling better soon!!!

I second the Spot Shot, that stuff works on everything. It's the only thing that gets out baby formula stains on clothes also.

Nope not Berber so must be pile (guess I'm dumb never heard of that term pile). Anywho thanks for tip I'll try it.

And yes DS is better he wants to go outside when the kids come home, says it's a beautiful day:laughing: Uh, I don't think so.

LOL! Sounds like he's feeling better!!

Not a home rememdy, but a tip for the future (and it gets out old stains). Get Oxy Clean for the Carpet. It comes in a green spray bottle. I have only seen it at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but it really gets things out. Spray and that's it. I have very light beige carpet (pile)..like almost white..don't know what I was thinking. My shih tzu puppy kept peeing on it and it comes right out. We're changing it in a year anyway, but it works!!!

Another vote for Spot shot! This stuff works miracles. One shot and the stain disappears. We have 4 cats so we have 1 or 2 cans on hand.

Another Spot Shot user here .... I have 2 cats, a 10 yo DD and a messy DH!

They recommended dish soap and water on mine, since the carpet has that stain resistent stuff on it. Our dog was sick last month and it worked fine.

I second the dish soap and water. When we purchased our newly build home a couple of years ago they had a guy show us how everything in the house worked and one thing he talked about was cleaning the carpet. He said carpet makers say the best thing is dish soap and water - I keep a mixed bottle with my cleaning supplies.

Resoak and reblot it with plain water numerous times, blotting it nearly dry with toilet paper each time. The first two time you can use soap or cleaning fluids but the important thing is to actually remove the impurities that were loosened up by the water (and the soap) as opposed to just let things dry, impurities and all.

I have light beige berber and what I do is spray scrubbing bubbles on it, let sit about 15 minutes then scrub. Normally comes right out ...if not I get out the steam cleaner!!:goodvibes I have had RED (hawaiian fruit punch) vomit on my berber and it came right out.:thumbsup2
