OT chi flat iron

I use Biosilk and I love it. It protects my hair and gives it a wonderful shine. It's basically just a silicone product and you can find cheaper options at Target :)
I believe biosilk is made by the same company that makes the chi irons and runs ~$10 a bottle, but you use a VERY little amount (my hair is halfway down my back and I use about a dime's worth). I have been on one bottle for nearly a year now with a decent amount left!

Wow! Great thanks for the advice! It really keeps you from getting split ends? Because I really love my Flat iron and the ease it gives me with handling my hair.. mine too is more than halfway down my back and what a joy the flat iron is... but the damage it has done is horrible! So.. i am actually off to cut off my split ends tonight and start over! I will definitely buy the Biosilk and give it a try!

Thanks

Kathy

Very Welcome!
I hope it works for you :)
Just a warning though ... start with a little and add more if you need it! Too much and you almost need to rewash your hair!

Matrix also makes a product in their Sleek Look Line called Iron Smoother, it is designed to protect the hair up to 450 degres while using the flat iron. Works very nicley also, it is about $13.95 and just spray over dry hair before ironing. It last quite awhile also.

Just went to hairdressers today and she recommended that I get some of the pantene heat protector spray and put on before I use the flatiron. I had been using biosilk but she said she preferred I use the pantene heat stuff. Also said to deep condition my hair once a week with something called Ion hair reconstructor protein for 20 minutes. HTH

That really suprised me that your Hairdresser would recomend that you purchase a product out of the store and not from her! I have been in the business for over 12 years and would never send my clients to the drug store to get their products. Also products purchased at our salon has a 30 guarantee if you don't like it bring it back, you can't do that at the drug store. Wow it just really caught me off guard there.

That is one thing that is different about my hairdresser she never pressures or asks me to buy anything from her. Nine times out of time she also has me to pick up something from Sally's or somewhere. Looks like I'm gonna have to give her a call however, because I don't see the Pantene heat protector I wonder if she means the ThermSilk line instead?

My hair salon wants $200 for the Chi!!! I know my place is overpriced, but good grief! :scared1:
I have straight hair (I flip the ends up) that I like to smooth with a flatiron and would like to get a Chi in place of my cheapie.
Any recommended places online where they are under $100 besides ebay?

Where can I buy biosilk products?

I have seen Biosilk at local stores such as CVS or Stop and Shop and also at salons. I usually buy mine on eBay...I can usually get it cheaper there.

Where can I buy a Chi flatiron? Where did you get yours? Please let us know what you think, I have only heard good things about it so far. :cheer2:

I see a few online for $99 and free shipping but am kind of scared to buy online, not knowing how warranties would work. Trade Secrets at the mall has the red one for $119 and it included 2 biosilk products. I am contemplating that. :scratchin Unless someone has ordered online for a good price and knows it is "safe".

My hair is really straight anyway, but I assume this would give it a smoother shinier look. ??

ok

I have VERY VERY curly and frizzy natural hair... it is a total mess, trust me!!

I have tried every cream, potion, lotion, gel, syrum you can think of and it is always soooo frizzy and dry looking, even with a deep conditioner

I use sleek look products on my hair...

I tried my CHI

I got it off EBAY for 72 bucks (that includes shipping!!!) and tried it last night on my greasy, not washed, frizz ball icky hair and immediately saw a HUGE difference!! The clamp is so much smoother than my previous iron (I bought at a supply store for 60 bucks) it was ok for normal hair but my hair is super thick and very curly...

the CHI worked wonders last night and I am going to do it again today after I get in the shower...

I can tell already it is a good investment for people with hard to straighten hair...
I also bought a CHI because I was so tierd of using tons of product in my hair, the cost was high and then by the end of the day my hair would be do greasy at the roots it looked awful...I hope I will not have to use as much stuff on my hair with the CHI giving me a natural look and not a flat greasy look!!

I am happy with my purchase, looks like I got a good deal

my iron is a 1' and it has a swivel cord for curling and easy maneuvers

check ebay

I got mine from a place called beautysigns I think...

new update

just got done doing my frizz ball, er hair...

let me say it took me 1/2 the time and got it about 100% straighter than my last iron!!!

It is soooooooooooo hot it burned my neck and now looks like I have a hickey... :lmao: hope I do not have to meet with the principal or parents on Monday!!!!

I am sure it was operator error

they get INTENSLY hot!!!! but incredible shine and flow without any product but some flat iron heat protectant spraY!!!

I love it

What size iron do y'all have?
I am thinking about going to the 1 or 2 inch iron.

I just got the 1 but maybe should have got the 2 depending on length and thickness of hair I guess

I have long thick hair but the 1' was cheaper and works great....

I had a 2 but I actually think the 1 is easier to work with

I just ordered one for my DD from Folica.com. I was reading aobut it on another board and everyone says it works wonders! It was $89.95 shipped and came with a free mat/pouch to keep it in. Also, if you go through ebates, you get another 6% back. :woohoo:
I can't wait to tell her I got it, her hair is so thick and curly...still don't know where she got that from??? :confused3 Mine is straight and fine!! I'll let you know how it goes when we get it :)

I broke down and bought one at Trade Secrets at the mall. It was the special edition red one that came with 2 Chi hair products. 1" size. Was marked down to $119 and I used a $10 off coupon. http://www.tradesecret.com/coupon.cfm
Was $109 and included 2 hair products that I love! :teeth:

It does make a difference even on straight hair! :sunny: DH does not know I got this (would not understand what it was anyway ;) ) though he has seen it in the bathroom. Anyway, he remarked yesterday that my hair has really looked extra nice lately, Shiny and smooth. He likes my hair anyway, so this was nice that he noticed the difference.

I did notice the warranty said it was not valid on chi irons bought on the internet.
