Talking about WDW, is it too early to start planning the trip??? lol. We'll be going in 2012 for my 40th (well, I'd like to go lol) and I have no clue where to start looking. I'm sure I'll pop along to the WDW board at some point to get more info. I guess getting a brochure from the travel agent would be a good start.

Where or how or who do you guys book your WDW hols with? What's the best airlines to fly with? Virgin? I think we're going to stay on-site - where would you recommend we stay? We'll definitely need car hire as well, won't we? A couple of friends have recommended that we get a villa in Kissimee, so that we're not stuck at the hotel all the time. But I'm just worried about driving around in such a big place.

It's going to be so much more complicated than planning for a trip to DLRP lol.

Help... lol.

Its never too late to start planning. Its a few years since we went so Im not as up to date as others on here with WDW but we stayed twice at the All Stars resort - the budget one and really liked it.
We always hired a car but it can be done without as there are buses from all the hotels to the parks

It is cheaper to book accomodation and flights seperately. From the comments I have been reading recently on the trip planning board it is cheaper to book direct through disney.co.uk rather than the American .com site, then book flights seperately. We have flown with BA and Virgin before and both are OK. We choose to fly Virgin only now though as we collect their flying club points. As for staying on site it depepnds on buget and your likes. We stay at the Beach Club Villas due to DVC points and it is our friends home resort. If we didn't go with our friends we would still choose the Beach Club anyway as we like the theme and you can walk to 2 of the parks from there (Epcot and DHS). The deluxe resorts are all close to one of the theme parks, the mods and values are further out and require you to use the disney busses to get you to all the parks. But even then this is easy to do and still quick. As for car hire we have done trips with and without. We choose to hire a car now though as we have days off site shopping, at Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Kennedy, Discovery Cove etc and it is just easier having a car to go to these places. The year we didn't have a car we just used taxies to take us to these places instead.
I'm not sure if any of this has helped of confused you more!!

BTW it is never too early to plan, we are planning for Christmas/New Year 2010/11!!

OH really surprised me the other night by almost saying he's looking forward to our trip
We were discussing what time he needs to book off work and as he's nights and we don't fly til the afternoon, I suggested that he worked the night before and then could get an early night when we arrive, to which he replied that he didn't want to miss any Disney time by being tired.

Now he had drunk half a bottle of Pernod, so I was willing to overlook his little slip up, but when I mentioned the hol again this morning, he said he's intending to do the EMH, all the rides and make as much of it as possible. Now I'm really confused.

It sounds as though you've a new fan in your house Jill. No more trips with just you and the boys

Mummyal, I forgot to say that there are some great WDW planning tools out there to help plan as well. I used Tour Guide Mike last time (an internet service you sign up to) which we found very useful. Also when we went to Disneyland in the summer we used Ridemax which was very good. It has a WDW version which I intend to use next time. This is a programme you download. In it you choose the date and the park, what rides you want to do, parades/shows you want to see and it tells you the best order to do things in.
