The forum there is insane right now. Over 100 pages and over 1000 posts in one day (and still going strong). Not even a pool-hopping, resort mug re-using, line cutter would get that much action here in the Dis.

Here's a dumb question...if they are so concerned about money, why don't they start charging for ChaCha? Nothing big..hey, how about they charge
$.10 per question-then we can all have our $.10 back!

If their system is overloaded, charging should cut back on the querys coming in. Just a thought...

I think ChaCha can kiss their rep goodbye now. Who is going to work for 10 cents?
It would have been smarter for them to do a pay scale

95% - 20 cents
90% - 19 cents
85% - 18 cents
80% - 17 cents
75% - 16 cents
etc.

That way there would be some incentive to really work - but if getting a 94% gets me the same pay as someone who gets 50% - why should I bother - speed would seem more important now.

I suspect ChaCha will just say to the guides who choose to leave "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." They are no different from other employer who foolishly believe the same thing and when the best leave and the dregs come in and cannot perform, they find themselves in real trouble. I worked in human resources for 25t+ years and I've seen it happen time and again. What goes around comes around. If they treat the guides like doo doo, then doo doo they will get!

So I've been thinking about this more - I'm definitely working through the 14th and doing as much as I can before then. I'll cash out to my bank account then too! I'll still wait to decide - I've been doing 300 queries and making Top Guide every week, but I'm not sure if I'll stick around for 10 cents a query, especially some of the junk we have to read and answer.

However, I also had another thought this afternoon. I'm interested to see what the Expeditor role is going to be and what the pay rate will be. You supposedly have to test for it and my theory (based in no evidence whatsoever!) is that expeditors will make more money and it will be very difficult to pass the tests for that role. Then, the regular guides who don't qualify to be expeditors will be making 10 or 20 cents per query, with the expeditors making either 20 cents or more per query.

Of course, I thought they were supposed to post more info about the expeditors today, so maybe they've decided to put it on hold for now. Maybe if ChaCha is still around in a month, I'll sign up to be an expeditor!

Just read that too. I know I answered to get my $100 for the month then quit and have been reading the forums all night. I guess I should be trying to up my money while I can, but I just don't feel like it now.

I'm there. It's also the first day of the Olympics. That could hurt.


If I decide to stay, I do know that if I'm not a top guide one week, I'll only be answering 301 the next week. I'm only answering more than 300 questions per week at .20!

You're right based on the table in the pay for performance faqs.

From there, it looks like the 10th - 13th would still be paid at the higher rate, so it would be a good time to get 300 in for "next" week. Hmmm....there might be something here. Which days are best to work to minimize your pay at .10 &/or maximize .20? Maybe I should text it to chacha

I know everyone's talking about the changes right now, but what happens if you cannot find the answer to a query? Some goober asked me who was the only player to hit opening day home runs for both the Braves and the Giants! After 10 minutes of searching, I finally just told them that Willie Mays hit 7 opening day home runs with the Giants. I just couldn't find the proper answer anywhere!

Do you just do the best you can when you get stumped?

just read my e-mail about the pay decrease and thought what the bleep! We have been on vacation so I haven't been able to get online a lot. Even when I was doing "a lot" on ChaCha in my book, I was only doing about 100 to 150 a week. I have a full time job and am working on my MBA, I was doing ChaCha mainly for gas money for our Disney trip next month. I think I am a good guide, I answer questions thoroughly and usually under 3 min. Oh well, it is not worth my time for .10!!!

Please correct me if I am wrong, but they will keep paying the .20 until the 14th? So I can answer my rear end off until then to hit my next $100 mark to get a cash out, then I will hit the road.
