Did ChaCha mods or whatever actually say that? With some of the answers I see in the history.. I doubt they check even a quarter of them!
Yes, it was a mod, with a lot of posts that said it. I double checked because I've seen quality discussed before and I wanted to be sure the answer was from an "authority."

I work anywhere between 60-65 hours a week at my FT job, another 15 hours is not happening, and I can make alot more if I just add one more hour to my FT job and make more then I could in 15 hours at chacha... I was doing it because it was not as stressful, and to be honest I enjoyed it and learning all the little things , but I did do the research and it is not worth it to me to be penalized because I do have a FT job..

At 3 minutes per search, that's 15 hours each week![/QUOTE]

Sorry for all the questions, but I have one more. . .

Someone asked me "Where is Ralph Ave?" I asked them to provide their city and state and then I could properly assist them. I quoted www.chacha.com.

Do you think this is okay?

I'd probably do google maps or something instead.

Now I can't even get into the Universe. :headache:

Wow. ChaCha just went down! I wonder why? Methinks just a few people are not too happy about the changes!

They really don't want you referencing ChaCha.com unless it's a question about ChaCha. You could go to mapquest.com and type in "ralph ave" and reference that.. that's what I would do.

While ChaCha is down, I wanted to thank you all for answering all my newbie questions! I've read all the ChaCha materials and I went through this entire thread and made notes, but I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right, so thanks for putting up with my questions today! :goodvibes

I've never seen it go completely down! Well, I guess I've only been on a week.:rotfl2:

Thanks! I went back and saw my notes on not using ChaCha unless it's a ChaCha question, so I just had a big brain fart! :rotfl2: Time to go back and read my notes again!

I got a blaster, and then I got one that really needed clarification...do those count against us?

I failed too. My DS was glued to my hip when I attempted the test. I am really upset because I really could have used the extra money. :sad1: Anyone know if you can retake it?

How did you find out that you failed? I just got a pop up that said my services weren't needed at this time. It didn't say if I passed or failed though.:confused3

I think it is TOTAL CRAP that if there is no way to check our accuracy ourselves (to police ourselves) then cutting our pay in HALF is BS!!!! I can understand if you could watch your accuracy level (like you can with pay), but if they can't prove to me that I am doing under 95% accuracy then I don't want to play.... How can we trust them so blindly???

I thought you couldn't say anything bad about ChaCha at the forums. When I read the user agreement, it sounded like you could get fired from what you said there.

This is terrible! I didn't think they can "cut your pay".
I have held to my end of the "agreement".

What do they expect, they are at the Xgames showing off about how great we are, we wait for questions, then their system fall apart. It is not our fault. They are making money no matter what.

Sorry-10 cents doesn't buy much loyalty or abuse from the foul mouthed teens that we call IS.

I was just wondering about that.

If I'm messing up on 1/20 questions, I need to know how not to keep doing that. Then again, they're calling employees "independent contractors" in order to evade paying employment taxes, so why would we be surprised that they'd be scummy?

You can't and they have not set up a fair system. If they had said, "we are setting up a place where you can see how, when and why we grade they way we do and there is a policy for protest" then MAYBE I could see their point, but this hype we had over the weekend-work you butts off for us to show how good we are (whoops our system failed) then cut us at the knees is bad practice.

I will be interested to see how many guides are working in the next 24 hours. I know I won't be.

They can pay me for my time and I will consider it a lesson learned and wait for another company to swoop in a hire the guides away.

Ah, but will you be working during the Olympics? I expect they're going to make a boatload then. I'm guessing Chacha is betting that people will cool down before then.

They (the ChaCha honchos) will make a boatload but not the Guides-their support system. If they want to pay sub standard pay they should go ahead an outsource like other companies do.
Nope, I hired in at 20 cents, but finished my test just hours after they changed to 15 cents for 1000 and 95%accuracy, that I don't even know how they qualify, and I thought, OK, I'll do that, but now they drop to 10 cents that is an insult. Don't move my carrot.

does anyone know what the tax laws are for us? I believe if we make under $600 we don't have to claim, correct? Does that mean we can make $599.80 and be ok?

I'm at about $470 (can't be for sure since the freaking kb is down). I thought about working for the next week or so until I hit the max I can without worrying about taxes and then just stopping. I just want to make sure I know exactly what the $$ amt. is before I do that.

I'm not an accountant, and I don't play one on tv. The IRS says that you have to pay Self Employment Tax if you earn $400 or more.

http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98846,00.html

Who Must Pay Self-Employment Tax?

You must pay SE tax and file Schedule SE (Form 1040) if either of the following applies.

* Your net earnings from self-employment (excluding church employee income ) were $400 or more.
* You had church employee income of $108.28 or more.

What is Self-Employment Tax?

Self-employment tax (SE tax) is a social security and Medicare tax primarily for individuals who work for themselves. It is similar to the social security and Medicare taxes withheld from the pay of most wage earners.

You figure SE tax yourself using Schedule SE (Form 1040). Social security and Medicare taxes of most wage earners are figured by their employers. Also you can deduct half of your SE tax in figuring your adjusted gross income. Wage earners cannot deduct social security and Medicare taxes.

SE tax rate. The self-employment tax rate is 15.3%. The rate consists of two parts: 12.4% for social security (old-age, survivors, and disability insurance) and 2.9% for Medicare (hospital insurance).

That 15.3% is essentially both the employee's portion (7.65%) (which you'd pay anyway if you worked for someone) plus the employer's portion (7.65%) (which chacha would pay if you were called an "employee" but you get to pay because they call you an "independent contractor.").
