OT-Cedar Point???

Castaway Bay is fun, and you will enjoy it for one night...

I definately think there are plenty of rides that are "in between" the large roller coasters and "kiddie" rides as well. It is very hard to do the whole park in one day, especially when the lines are longer.

I guess I'm picky about the food, but I will stand by my opinion that it is really pricey and just not good. Our favorite restaurant is Famous Dave's BBQ on the water right outside the park. Yes, you can snack pretty decently, but it is $$$.

We've never been to Putin Bay, so I can't comment on it but know many people who go.

It is hard to plan a trip from the website, not many amusement park's websites are as detailed as Disney's. I am a planner and need to know details of everywhere I go! Ask away, there are a lot of Cedar Point fans here and I agree it would be nice to have an "Other Theme Parks" Board here too.

Have fun planning! :)

Put in Bay has fun stuff for the kids, too...

Perry's Cave and Crystal Cave
gem stone "mining"
electric go carts
fishing
butterfly house
mini golf

But to be honest, the biggest kid "attractions" are the boat ride over and riding around in a golf cart :rotfl:

1. We're spending one night at Castaway Bay (for the indoor water park). Anyone ever been there and if so, how was it?

It's ok, the nice thing is that depending on the day, because it is a CP resort you will get in early (Not sure if this is still true, but it was in 05)

2. DS 11 is not a coaster nut so DH and I will probably be switching off between boys. Is there enough non-coaster rides to keep DS 11 busy?
Yes there are and make sure that you get a parent swap pass, ask the person standing at the front entrance for one and then your other son will be able to ride with both you and your DH, when you go back the line you will be in will be much much shorter

3. Is the park food really that bad? Can we merrily snack our way through the parks and be happy? Is there a nice selection of places to eat other than TGI Fridays off of park property?

Johnny Rockets is fun, but the food is normal park food, Kahunaville is in Kalahari hotel, it is pretty good.

4. Have heard a lot about Put In Bay being a huge party spot. It is family friendly at all - could we bring kids for the day and would there be stuff that we could do or would that just be a bad idea?

Was there an entire summer and never went over there...of course I was under 21 and was told it wasn't that much fun.

Hope this helps...

Make sure not to miss Millenium Force!! Also ride Magnum XL-200 tell DS 12 to sit in the third row...it is the best seat on the ride (it is known as the ejector seat). Have a wonderful trip!!!

Cant say, I have never been there, but I have heard good things.

There are a decent ammount of non coaster rides. (Some of which can be pretty extreme themselves) There also a few coasters that are not that extreme either like the Mine Cars, Gemini, Blue Streak, Iron Dragon.

The park food is not that great but it is eddible. If you dont mind waiting, as it is popular, Johney Rockets is a good place to grab a burger.

Put in Bay is family friendly untill about Dinner time then it does shift to a party atmosphere. It is a cool way to spend a relaxed afternoon. I would not even worry about the party scene unless I was there after dark. While you will see pople drinking in the evening I havee never seen or heard of anything getting rowdy till after dark.

we stayed at castaway bay in 2005 and we loved it --- the inside waterpark has a water coaster a wave pool and a bunch of slides --- it does get kinda hot inside though -- when we were there they did some sort of pirate show in the lobby at night --- you have to drive to cedar point from this resort and have to pay to park but you get to do early entry if they still offer it -- at early entry not all the rides are opened but you can probably get some of the coasters in without a huge wait - millenium force was one of the early entry rides when we were there -- as for food we ate at the TGIFridays at the hotel and there are several restaurants nearby if you dont want to eat in the park-- we had an awesome time (even though i didnt know it at the time i was having gallbladder attacks).

Ok here is my 2cents worth on Put In Bay. When I was a kids, we're not saying how many years ago that was, Put In Bay was a great place to take the kids. I remember one of the few vacations we took was a weekend to Put In Bay. So when DH and I were dating we went and well lets just say it was party central. It was like we were back in college at a party. We wound up not staying the whole day. If you want to go hiking and enjoy a Island I would recommend Kelleys Island. More of a family atmosphere. In fact we are camping there memorial day weekend.

You'll love Cedar Point! Have fun

Hi everyone.

I've merged the two Cedar Point threads together. And since this isn't really about a Disney theme park, I've move the combined thread to the Community Board forum. Perhaps more people there will be able to answer some of these questions. :)
