So....if my family (DH, myself, DD6, DD4, probably MIL) wanted to check out Kansas City for a weekend.....tell me what we should see/do?!?

Makes sense to ask those who know rather than start from scratch to look it all up!

THANKS in advance, all!

Shop and eat at the Plaza, go to the zoo, visit the Power and Light district during the day with the kids, Worlds of fun amusment park, that is all I can thin of now but I am sure there is more!

You can stay at the Great Wolf Lodge, go shopping at Legends (in the GWL area) or many other great shopping places around town. Schlitterbahn is open in the first phase. The Plaza is a nice place to walk around and shop and eat. There's not much in the Power and Light District that interests my family, but maybe yours. Crown Center is sort of neat, but not too much going on there. I'm sure more people have other great ideas too.

Kansas City has several places you might enjoy:
Harry S Truman Library in Independence he is buried there, very interesting
Crown Center(neat shops and places to eat)
Union Station (located across the street from Crown Center)
The Plaza (lots of neat stores and places to eat)
Royals Stadium
Chiefs Stadium
I would pass on the zoo, it's allot of walking and you don't really see many animals unless you get there early plus I feel it's not worth $10 a person
The Great Wolf Lodge sounds good never been there but have known people who stay there for weekend getaways

I hope you enjoy our city
Let us know what you think after your visit

we can't go to KC without going to T-rex cafe and the downtown shopping area. and a Royals game if they are home

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in Overland Park is our favorite place. Admission is free, you pay to do things like pony rides, horse drawn wagon rides, fishing etc. Lots of animals up close to pet, nice playgrounds, a dairy barn, old time school house complete with craft to do, goats to feed. We love it!

Go WW1 Museum and the Steamboat Arabia museum. Kids will truly enjoy them. We took our 9 yr olds this year

Since your kids are younger I agree with Deanna Rose.

Or at Crown Center there is Kaledescope which is a kid craft interactive place (check out their website) and there is a restaurant Fritz's Railroad that is unique and kid friendly. They also often have a free exhibit that is kid friendly. Recently it was Lego art, not sure if it is still there.

Legends does have the T-Rex restaurant which is very cool, but the food isn't that great and it is overpriced. It is right next to Great Wolf Lodge and Schlitterbahn.

Wonderscope is a kids museum on the Kansas side.
