Question for my DIS Friends:

Do any of you own a Broyhill sofa? And if so, has it worn well? Would you buy that brand again?

I am a looking for a less expensive (but not cheap) brand of a sofa and love seat. I found a Bassett sofa I like okay, but I found a custom fabric that Broyhill has that I LOVE. I was afraid of the custom fabric sticker shock, but it only adds $115 to the sofa I was looking at that was already just $610. So $725 for a custom fabric sofa doesn't sound too out of budget for me. But, before I jump into this, I would love to hear any opinions positive or negative. I need this to last 3 years at the least (heading back to school for law), and if it lasts longer than that that would be a bonus!

I previously purchased a sofa by Max Home that I would NEVER recommend to anyone or buy again, so now I am nervous to end up with another disappointment. It was down-filled and feathers would poke out of it ALL the time. It also ended up very pilly, I think the fabric was a blend and that may be why? The Broyhill fabric is 100% polyester so the salesperson assured me it would not pill - hopefully that is true.

Broyhill furniture is totally worth it! Best furniture you can buy...very well known and respected brand.

We have bought several Broyhill items over the years and have never been let down. Amazing quality!

We have two Broyhill sofas....very durable. :)

Thank you all!! The salesperson told me the same, but I just wanted to be sure! And I had found some reviews online but all seemed to be written right after the furniture was purchased. None really touched on how it wore or how they liked it a year or two later. I'm going in to get it ordered later today!

Not so much. Broyhill is OK, moderate level furniture. It's better than some but worse than a lot. You get what you pay for. It probably won't fall apart the minute you bring it into your house like Ashley would, but stuff you purchase today is most likely made in China and isn't great construction. If you only need it to last a few years, it should be fine.

You can't compare pieces made 15 or 20 years ago to something manufactured today, because most companies have now moved overseas and have cut many corners compared to how they used to manufacture.

Better brands would include Hancock and Moore, Bradington Young, Taylor King, Stickley and a host of others. But you're going to pay for better quality, unless you are lucky enough to find a floor model a store is selling on clearance.

My old couch was a Broyhill and it was great. My current one is from Ashley because I didn't want to spend a ton on something the kids would ruin. It's four years old now and still in great shape.

You are correct, I am in the market for mid-level furniture since I am still young-ish, not married, no kids, etc, so I figure I will save my bigger furniture purchases for later in life when I am a little more settled. I want something better than the 'value produced', but I don't want something that I am going to feel like I need to be tied to for years to come. So I ended up looking at Bassett, Craftmaster, Broyhill, and a couple others, and I settled on Broyhill simply because they had a fabric I liked best. However, having been burned on sofas last year (they ended up coming and taking them back) I figured I had better do a little more due diligence this time. I am going back to school for law and will be there for 3 years, so as long as it lives that long I will be happy. But I do want something decent and comfortable and not super cheaply made so I went a step above the value produced lines.

Again, thanks for the opinions!

My husband works for Broyhil at the main complex with the corporate offices. In the last year less us being made in China. More is being made here. It depends on what you order.

I'm 99% certain our bedroom set and dining set is Broyhill, as well as our sofa. They've all held up really well over the last 10-15 years. In fact, I'm looking at moving our current sofa into the den and replacing it with another Broyhill. Nothing wrong with it, we're just looking for one with a sleeper.

Compared to the money my BF spent on their stuff from Ashley (which is complete poo and has fallen apart in less than 2 years), I really feel that we've gotten our money's worth.
