Hey everyone,

I don't usually come onto this board as, strictly speaking I'm no longer a teen after last November :(

I thought I'd pop on and ask all of your advice though, if you don't mind? :worship:

I'm looking to buy a couple of books for my nearly 14 year old sister, as stocking fillers for Christmas - but as a man, I really haven't got a clue what sort of books would go down well.

If you can help out at all, it would be greatly appreciated. pixiedust:

Thanks!!

I lovvvvve teen romance stories!! Here's a couple a great ones that I just finished!!

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elekeles
This one was really good!! It was about two teens from different sides of Chicago, the Northside were everyone rich and perfect lives and the Southside were the poor live infested with gangs and violence, who become Chemistry partners unwilling. Soon they learn that their not-so perfect lives are very similar and the slowly start to fall for each other. This story was a very fun and intriguing but you may also learn a life lesson from it.

Dream Factory
This one if a very fantastic one and not only is it a romance but it also takes place in the Happiest Place on Earth (Walt Disney World)! It is again about two teens who decide to take on a summer job at Walt Disney World due to the normal workers being on strike. Ella is cast the role of Cinderella simply because the dress fit and Luke is cast the part of Dale to which brings him much dismay. Throughout the story these to teens learn that maybe a chipmunk and a princess could live happily ever after but a lot of pixie dust will be needed to make it happen!

Then of course if your sister would be interested or doesn't already have the Twilight Saga, then those would also be some great books to get!!
Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the advice! ;)

Perfect Chemistry sound, well...perfect! Just what I'm looking for I think. :)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is seriously one of the best books ever written.

One of my favorite books when I was 14 was A Separate Peace. Its cynical, but humorous if she has "that type" of humor.

Some of my favorites are...
The INKHEART Series,
Princess Diaries,
The Fire WithinSeries,
and Walk Two Moons

The clique sereis! Im 13, almost 14, and i loove them everyone at my school is reading them! (fyi, they are very girly) lol

catcher in the rye
perks of being a wall flower
looking for alaska
an abundance of katherines
paper towns
time travelers wife
scrambled eggs at midnight
like water for elephants
a winter night's dream
half magic (this is more of a short read children's story, but its an engrossing story. i love it)
speak

I'm 15 and my favourite books are the Airhead Series by Meg Cabot (:
There's 2 so far, Airhead and Being Nikki, with the final one being published some time next year I think.
They're about a girl who's brain is put in a supermodel's body - but no-one can know as the operation is unethical. So she has to learn to pretend to be Nikki, the supermodel, while also coping with the fact that all of her friends and her best friend, the boy she is also in love with, thinking that she's dead.

Twilight saga
Lucas - Kevin Brooks
How i live now - Meg Rastoff
The meaning of life - Joanna Nadin
Speak
Uglies/Pretties/Specials/Extras - Scott Westerfield(sp?)

Bolded=My favorite book ever.

The Clique series is kinda stupid, but I love it. The Private series has the same theming except it's more towards 14+ since it's a lot more...mature. If you're worried about your daughter reading about sex/drugs, then I'd go with The Clique series instead. It's "safer." The worst thing they talk about in The Clique is probably french kissing. xD

I thought I'd add that I'm having this problem too.

I want a good read for a teen that isn't bogged down with sex and cussing, but can't find ANYTHING.

The Clique series looks good, but really long.

And that's all I can think of.

Inkheart series.
Looking for Alaska.
An Abundance of Katherines.
The Book Theif.
House of night series
The Rope Walk.
Harry Potter.
Kingdom Keepers.
Of Mice and Men.
The Secret Life of bees.
Sweetblood.
Invisible.
Rash. (My favorite of Hautman.)
Little Brother.
The Looking Glass Wars books.

Aww sex scenes are the best part of any book! :cool1: (I kid, I kid).

Anywho suggestions:

A Great and Terrible Beauty
Harry Potter Series
The Luxe (but I don't recommend the sequels.. not a fan)
How to Be Popular by Meg Cabot
Teen Idol by Meg Cabot
American Girl by Meg Cabot

I've heard of a lot of Meg Cabot suggestions.

I might read one of hers at the bookstore to see if it's any good.
