OT: Beaches Resort

Hi!
DH wants to take a non-Disney vacation next year.
He was thinking about going to Beaches or somthing similar. Has anyone gone to one of these? Are they that great?

Yep, DH and I have taken the kids twice to the Beaches in Turks and Caicos. It is absolutely wonderful.

DS was 2 1/2 first time we went.

Second time DS was 7 and DD was 17 months. We had the best time, both times. DH and I have checked out the beaches resort in Negril Jamaica when we were staying at Sandals last year . it looks great too.

They are pricey but worth every penny. If you need additional info, feel free to PM me.

We haven't been to Beaches, but we did go to Sandals in Jamica (same owner but for adults only) and LOVED it! The service, food, resort, everything was top notch! We would go back in a second.

Beaches and Sandals are great resorts. I got married at Sandals Negril and we checked out Beaches for a day while we were there and it is awesome. I definately want to take my kids there in a year or two. Your DD is so cute!

I know I'm usually scared to plan anything but Disney too, since DH only gets a weeks vacation until next year. We might skip Disney in 2008 and try Beaches. I have never been to Turks & Caicos but I think I might try that one instead of Jamaica. You will love the Lilo & Stitch breakfast. The characters came around twice and they had a parade around the restaurant. It was much quieter than the other character meals and was very enjoyable. Good luck with your vacation plans.

We priced out Turks and Caicos with Beaches for our family of five, and it was like 8,000. Too much for us. Of course that included flights from Baltimore, md, but still pricey. I can do Disney way cheaper than that, even though hubby and kiddos are ready to try Beaches. The Jamaica ones were about 2,000 cheaper I think. Everyone I know who goes to these places LOVES it.
