My younger sister is expecting her first child this summer. (Excited for her but also know its going to be a challenge financially, she is only 20!!)
I've volunteered to host her baby shower... I was hoping to not waste money on decor that will end up in the trash. Centerpieces seem to cost $$ so I was looking for ideas that would make them useable for the new mommy.
My experience with giving them to guests as a prize is they end up shoved in a closet or tossed soon after, what do you really do with a floating rubber duck candle centerpiece at home. Lol !!!

They used sizes from newborn - 3 and decorated the cakes with small sample size packs of diaper rash cream, soaps, creams, powder, etc (babies r us has small boxes of these for about $3 on the end caps, they work great or sign up for free samples in the mail). The base of the cake, or cake "plate", was a piece of cardboard wrapped in a receiving blanket. Everything about them was perfect! I plan on doing the same thing for my cousin for her baby shower this spring
