My daughter waited until her 9th birthday. (and she was STILL frightened of the piercing gun!..lol) but it was her choice. I decided that when she feels she is ready, then that is the best age. Now she is trying to convince my 3 year old... go figure!

We let our daughterprincess: get her ears pierced on her 10th birthday. Then when we go to Disney in April we will get her a nice pair of ear rings at the main street store at DisneyWorld.

You are correct in and prior to 2006, but incorrect now. The research I was referring to is very new, this month, and it has such merit the AAP has made a statement that they are strongly considering changing their stance (and probably will in the next few months) to in fact recommend routine circumcision.

Personally, I totally agree that it is a personal decision. We had a hard time deciding. We did it b/c one of DHs friends said to do it (they didn't do his son & they regretted it for tons of reasons--mainly b/c it upsets the son)
Why would his son be upset not being CS?
and my doctor assured me the way they numb them now, there is no pain--she's had minor surgery with the same anthestia
had to be a woman!

The percentages are small, the doctors have an interest in carrying out such elective procedures as they gat paid. I would be more impressed if the report was by a urino-genital study group.

Why not have women have mastectomies as soon as possible as this prevents breast cancer.

His son was upset over it because everyone around him WAS cs--including his father. Doesn't take much of stretch to understand that one. They had also had to deal with infections, which didn't please their son any. Again, very understandable.

Yes, it was a woman. However, surgery is surgery. She didn't feel anything when her moles were cut out, it was still an experience. And I have a top OB whom has my utmost trust. She has PROVEN to put the well-being of patients above anything. Nor did she get paid on it. So there goes that theory.

BTW--if mastectomies prevented breast cancer, how do men without breasts get breast cancer? What a mastectomy does is remove tissue that could possibly get infected or is already infected and cannot be removed. This arguement is a bit like saying lets end all car accidents, not by driving safer and improving the safety of actual cars, but by destroying all cars totally so they don't even exist. It's a bit of a stretch. NOR does it have anything to do with piercing ears!! So...

Fair enough

Free Surgery, how common is that in the US?

Men do have breast tissue not breasts

Yes it is but surely that is your argument in justifying circumcision!
NOR does it have anything to do with piercing ears!! So...
No you are right one is a procedure just to please a mother who likes their child to look cute and the other at least has some possible medical benefit.
