OT: Ariel Birthday party

I was unable to throw a b-day party for my DD last year because I was ill. I would really like to do something special for her this year (she's turning 5). I think she wants an Ariel party (that's today's request anyway) Does anyone have any ideas on games, crafts etc that we could do to make it really special?

we went to a "princess party" a few months back and the mom had all kinds of crafts. she had went to hobby lobby and got things to make necklaces and had little bottles of fairy dust, she made them all bags with their names embroidered on them, she printed off coloring pages and they colored. She also had pumpkins they painted. I am sure you could take some of this and incorporate it into an under the sea theme. Oh and at the table each child had their own goblet with their name and gems glued to it. IT was a cute party!!!

I know that one of our local supermarket's "Shaw's" carries an Ariel cake. At the time we had an Ariel party , i ended up making my own Mermaid cake which i found on Familyfun.com. At a craft fair i saw someone selling some 4 x 6 frames that were painted and had Disney puffy stickers on them. It was really pretty and looked simple. My local craft store carried the all the Princess's puffy stickers which were really cheap and the cardboard frames were also very inexpensive. We made the project at home with my 5 and 4 year old. It was fun. My daughter had an Ariel party a few years ago. We had a Mermiad Piniata and had some Ariel Triva games and played the music from the movie. I dressed as Ursula, my DH dressed like Eric and the birthday girl had a jumper that my mom made from Ariel fabric. I know that they sell Disney DVD Bingo at the toy store which we payed at some other birthday parties. At our party I made a treasure chest and when someone won a game they got to pick out of the treasure chest and make up something about the item that had nothing to do with it, just like skuttle did. It was cute to see how creative the kids were. We were also able to use our outdoor sandbox which is quite large 15' x 15' and we buried treasures in the sandbox and each kid got to dig for theirs. I found a bunch of princess stuff on clearance at the Disney Store and just used that to bury. The kids loved it!! We also played pin the tail on the mermaid which i drew on white paper that i purchased on a roll. I also printed up Ariel coloring sheets off of the computer and put it in a nice folder for the kids. There really is so much that you could. I hoep that your daughter has a great time!!!

My Dgd had an ariel party last year. I took a picture of Ariel's groto and made it larger on the printer (2 pages) and then cut out little ariels and improvised a pin the tail on the donkey type game. The had to put ariel near the center of the groto. All the girls enjoyed it. I also got plastic plates and put a ribbon through the top and at walmart in the craft dept they had stick on spounge fish etc, Got Ariel stickers and princess stickers. The decorated their plate and had a mobile for their room. They really designed and took around 20 to 30 minutes to do this.

I just threw my four year old a princess party. We did a game or craft for the different princesses. For Ariel we played "Fishing for Dinglehoppers." I bought some cheap magnetic fishing poles (you can make your own too) and filled a large tub with water. I inserted a plastic fork into a paperclip, and the kids fished for dinglehoppers. I printed a picture of Ariel combing her hair with a fork (http://www.geocities.com/disneyclipart/) to introduce the activity. The kids loved it.

we had the mermaid for my daughters 4th birthday and i got a colorful fish pinata................you can buy a bubble machine and have it plugged in at the entrance of where the kids walk inside the house. I still have the mermaid candle from her cake saved in her save box, they sell them at craft stores like AC moore.
i dont remember any other special activities i did. but i do remember going to a friends mermaid party and she bought hefty trash bags and put each child in one and taped the bottom around and made them all look like mermaids, it was so cute for a group picture.

Invitation- Scallop Shell "Ariel invites you under the sea to a party among the Merpeople for XXX's birthday on XXX............" Shell was on a poster paper but another shell of pearlized paper was on top and the bottom has ribbon through holes. So like you are opening the shell to see invite.
Decor - Caribbean Motif, fist nets, seashells, coral, fishbowl with fish
Activity - King Triton's Shell Shop, crafts for them to do as they arrive, suggested pasta shells they decorate.
Fantasy Feature - Ariel's Treasure Chest with Dinglehoppers and Bubble blowing Snarfblatts....Shoe box each and decorate as treasure chest right down to rope handles on sides. Affix notary seal to resemble the latch. Label bubble pipe with tag as snarfblatt, plastic fork labeled dinglehopper, add a bottle of bubbles, bag of chocolate coins. Put at their seats and they use for their shells and prizes.
Games:
Mermaid marathon -potato sack races but they look like mermaids tails. Took the tube of fabric and tied knot almost at end.
Starfish Fishing - wading pool, fish for starfish made of plastic...
Loony Limbo - Basically limbo but they don't have to bend back
Calypso music and little mermaid music, oatmeal boxes for bongos.......
Food
Flounders Fruit Salad, using canned or soft pear halves, & other foods looks like flounder laying on lettuce
Under the sea biquits, pop up kind cut in scallop shape with King Triton tuna salad
Seawee salad, Coleslaw like but green beans instead of cabbage
Guppy Cups are cupcake liners filled with goldfish
Ursulas Sea Witch sherbert, Sherbert for her body, black shoelace for legs, Whipped topping for her hair, choc chips for eyes, cut red gumdrop for lips and sherbert is berry for purple color
Sebastian crab cake, cupcakes with sebastian on top made of variety of foods
Caribbean blue cooler, blue kool aid, ginger ail and shark gummies (may want to leave to side for that age group - could drink and choke)

For my DD's 4th birthday last December, we hired Ariel to come to the party! It was through an entertainment agency. All the little girls wore their Princess dresses and waited for Ariel. She came, walking very slowly because of her fin, and then did magic tricks and told stories and did sing-alongs and dance-alongs (is that a word? LOL). She ended with face painting. The kids all loved it! Yes, it was kind of pricey, but I didn't have to do anything else, except provde a cake, pizza, and goodie bags!
