OT: Anyone know how to get old spit up stains out?

MIRACLE Stain Remover Recipe, this has been tested and tried by MANY people and I dont know of any stains it hasnt gotten out!

1 cup of Clorox 2 Color Safe Liquid Bleach
1 Cup of LIQUID Cascade Dishwasher Detergent
to 1 Bucket of HOT Water

Let items soak for a few hours and wash as normal! Hasnt dulled colors either!

I tried doing this and it put a hole in my son's shirt, maybe it wasn't a big enough bucket, so there was too much concentration, but dishwasher detergent is pretty rough on the clothes when I've used it, just MHO!

For the one that was mentioned in parenting magazines, wasn't it either Mother's Little Miracle or Totally Toddler?

BTW--Zout is the pre-treater they use at a local uniform supply company that provides the lab where my DH works with their gear.

There is also a stain remover specifically for this. I used to get it at Wal Mart and Babies r'Us, I think it's called "totally toddler" or something like that. It's in a white and pink spray bottle. This stuff worked great on those stains , diaper leaks too.

I was up north this weekend and I found the onesie I thought I had thrown away!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sooo excited to see it, seriously. Made my day! Anyway, the oxyclean took out the non moldy stains and lightened the moldy ones, but it took bleach to remove them. It was a white onesie with a frog on it, so I couldn't use the bleach on the frog itself, so tried a second pre- treat then soak with the oxy clean and it took it out. YIPPEE!!!

If that doesn't work, then a small amount of good old bleach (we have the kind of washer that has its own compartment for liquid bleach, and you can only use up to a tablespoon or so, but only that much really works). There has not been a stain I have not gotten out with my one-two whammy.

I'm having my husband pick up a stain stick tonight so that I can stay away from the yarn, hopefully it will work. I'm so afraid of ruining it!

Zout and Clorox Bleach Pen does it everytime--I use it for my DH, DS and DD messes all the time!

Wow, thanks! I need to think about getting all the baby stuff out again, and I am sure that I will find a lot of 'surprises' that have shown up while they were in storage. Why is it that stains always seem to get worse

Hmm, for the needlework you might try using some milder, I've used Fels Naptha (bar soap that you wet and rub on stains) for an antique cross stitch that I came across at a yard sale. It took a couple of tries but I got out a nasty dark stain and it looks beautiful now!

I ruined it! I am heartbroken!!!!!!! I did all sorts of test spots and everything all day long yesterday to make sure I wasn't going to, and they all turned out fine. Then I clean it and it bled! Do you know of a way to get the dye stains out and keep it from bleeding again? I was able to get the bleeding out last night, and then I soaked up as much extra water as I could with a towel, then tried blow drying it (on cool) to dry it faster so it wouldn't bleed, but I couldn't keep up with it. I'm so upset it's not funny.

I know RIT makes a product that will take stains from bleeding out. I used it on a multi colored shirt that my son had where the red bled into the white upon washing and it worked.

Do you think it will take the color out of the yarn though? I mean, this stuff all of the sudden started bleeding like crazy, I've run it clear with cold water four or five times and it still bleeds!

I don't know. BUT, if it is already ruined, it certainly can't hurt it anymore. Another option, call RIT. They make great products and might be able to steer you in the right direction. You also might want to email "Ask Heloise" and/or "Good Housekeeping". You never know... ???

I have three small kids... and the BEST stain remover in the WORLD. I too have bought used clothing with old spit-up stains. The only thing that has worked.... CARBONA. Go to your local Jo-ann fabric store and ask where their stain removers are. They are in small bottles, and are specific for certain stains. You need the Carbona for milk.

I am telling you... this stuff is miracle juice! I give this stuff as a gift to every new mom I meet... and they all thank me.

To get formula stains out, I use a cup of regular laundry detergent, a cup of powder dishwasher soap, and a cup of dry color safe bleach. Fill your washing machine up with hot water and add the soaps to the clothes, but leave the lid up on your washer so it won't drain the water and let it sit over night and then run your washer the next morning. I have never had any problems getting stains out by doing this.

No no no, I ruined it all on my own. I tried for the entire day with the yarn snippings from the back of it, and thought it would be safe to use a bit of laundry detergent- boy was I wrong! I have yet to try anything else, I'm too afraid... I took it to the dry cleaners yesterday and she looked at me like I was crazy for asking if they could get stains out- isn't that what you take clothes in for (aside from dry clean only)?? Any recommendations of a certain type of cleaners? I know NOTHING about it... What is martinizing? Could that be a better place to take it?

ETA- I just realized that my post made it look like I used that stuff, sorry. I was actually just meaning to ask if you knew a product to fix what I had done.

I've always had good luck with Shout stain remover. It has removed some really tough stains for me. It could be combination of the Shout and the detergent I use - Sun with bleach. Good luck!

Ok, I used the shout stain stick on the bleeding and then washed it AGAIN... I read to use vinegar to set the dyes so after I washed it and got all of the bleeding out, I rinsed it very very well and put it immediatly into a sinkful of 3 parts lukewarm water to 1 part vinegar. The water is still clear!!! I did it! I am SOOOOOOOO excited, I didn't ruin a family heirloom. YAY ME! And boy did I learn a lesson... The original stain is still there but I don't dare try to get it out, it was there when it was given to me and there it will stay! Now all I have to do is wash it one more time to get the vinegar out so it doesn't eat it, and I'm all set. Oh, and theres the little part about it not bleeding while it dries... send me some major P&PD please!
