Hi All ~ This cough is driving me crazy. It's exhausting! I have a sinus infection, but that's not bothering me as much as the cough. Anyone have a good cure? I don't take pills for it.....they never work for me. I took a couple yesterday and they only made me feel weird. Thanks! Sandra

Hi Sunshine

Try
Ombra Ecutyptus oil infused in a bath ,,,Sinus

Don't know if hot toddies is off limits but it sure does help me when I have a cough,,,hot sugar water with twist of lime or lemon also might help.
What about Tylenol or Neo Citran hot drink mix,,or is that a medication,,

ah well I'll just have to send yah ((((((((((((((((healing HUGS))))))))))))))

I also try heating packs (warm only ) place across the base of the neck and across the eyes,,helps ease muscle tension and open the sinuses to drain. The sinuses draining is probably postnasal drip irritating the throat.(Can you tell I get them all the time) anyhow honey in a hot cup of tea helps also.

have you tried a steam shower? Take a long hot shower let the enire room steam up if you can; this will break up sinus.

I was also going to suggest honey.

Hope you feel better.

If you have a sinus infection, the best way to ensure it goes away (and doesn't come back) is antibiotics. I'd get a test done with your doctor (to ensure you really have an infection, and not just a bad cold).

Do you have a cool mist vaporizer you could put on in your room over night?? I find it always helps me and I use it faithfully when my kids get sick too. Cool mist is best (except for pneumonia) and the hum seems to help you sleep. I also use Delsym cough syrup, which my dr's husband recommended to me and I swear by it. I can't take many otc meds for colds and such as the epinephrine seems to effect me (like a jolt of caffine and I can't sleep). Delsym can be used day or night as it doesn't make you drowsy.

Good luck :)

Hope you feel better soon!

I was going to suggest Deslym too. Love that stuff!

I also rub Vicks Vaporub on the chest and forehead area to loosen things up

for sinus infection I have to say hands down EnTexLa for sure, I know you said you dont like pills but honestly I used to have terrible sinus infection that would only clear up with a high dose antibiotic but since I found the Entexla I have not had to go in to the Dr for them at all it works so well and clears me up within a couple of days!

Hot bath, nice and steamy with some eculyptus oil in it. Also plenty of fluids, hot honey lemon even better if you can stomach a little finely chopped garlic in it.
Hope your on the mend soon.

I got this tip emailed to me, and it worked WONDERS on my 5 yo. Rub Vicks Vap-o-rub on the bottoms of your feet, and put socks on. This worked within 15 mins for my son, and he slept the entire night without any more coughing!!!

I've recently heard of this too. I haven't tried it yet but definitely will.

For your cough, try floating a piece of brown paper in a bowl of vinegar and put it near your bed for the night. Works for a lot of people.

I swear by the Neti Pot. I get sinus infections annually - usually after a bad cold - someone recommended a Neti Pot to me as I felt one coming on.....and I was able to nip it in the bud.

Generally speaking, you should see a physician first - if the she/he thinks that it's bad enough to warrant antibiotics - you should do that because having an infection that close to your brain is very serious. If your doctor thinks that it's mild enough to go without antibiotics, get yourself a Neti Pot and do it twice a day.

I was skeptical at first, but now include it in my daily routine. I bought one here with 50 packages of the solution for $22. Feels funny the first time you use it but you get used to it - feels sort of like when you are in a pool and accidentally get water up your nose.

Whenever I have a sore throat/cough, I mix together some honey, lemon and hot water. I find the honey really soothing and the hot water helps to clear my sinuses. And... of course the lemon has Vitamin C :)

Hope you feel better soon Sandra!!

Cough drops and cough medications are not recommended for sore throat.

Antibiotics are only effective when the irritation is due to a bacteria, viral irritations will not improve with the use of antibiotics.

Cool (or warm) mist vaporizors are the best. Some claim, honey, lemon, etc, are good as well.

I have tried many cough syrups over the years;none worked until I tried Delsym. I use it for those uncontrollably annoying dry coughs.
