A friend of mine has breast cancer, and is about to start chemo. Her husband is commuting to Austin for work (so not around much) and she has 3 young kids. I was trying to think what I could do to help (since I live 1000 miles away) and the one idea I had is some of the pre-made meal places where you can prep and then freeze. I know some of those in my area will even assemble and deliver for you, for an additional fee.

Anyone from the Dallas - Fort Worth area who might have used one of these or could recommend a place? I just think it would be a big help for her not to have to worry about meals at least some of the time.

Any ideas/help is appreciated.

Thanks

What a great idea.
Prayers to your friend.

I have tried Super Suppers in the area.
They were pretty good, but I have no idea about delivery.
There is also one in McKinney on Eldorado but I can't for the
life of me think of the name of it right now.

I don't live in the Dallas area but I am a BC survivor. When I was going through my surgery and chemo my husband was in Kuwait. One of the things he did while he was home for my surgery was to hire a maid service. That was so great and I still have them come although I've cut back to once a month instead of every 2 weeks. Treatments make you really tired and I didn't have any kids to chase. Hopefully she has a church family to help her out. My Sunday school class brought meals for about 2 weeks and they were always offering to help in any way I needed them. I encourage you to drop little notes or cards to her. It doesn't have to be anything expensive or long, it's just nice to get the pick me ups. I always enjoyed getting them.

The one one in McKinney on Eldorado isn't there any more. Super Suppers is around some places, and there are some others in Frisco and FW. PM me the are she's closest too and I'll try to help you find places.

Celebrity Cafe makes some nice casseroles you can purchase to take home and bake (they are all over the DFW area). Not sure they deliver, but it won't hurt to call and ask.

You're a sweet friend to help her. I'm sorry to hear what she is going through.

Boston Market does the whole-meal thing too although I'm not sure they would freeze well. But a GC to there might come in handy.

Thanks for the ideas & assistance. I look into these options and see what I can do.

I also like the idea of little notes/cards/etc. She does have a close church group and a sister and some aunts in the area. I just know it has be hard, especially with the little ones.

Thanks again!

The Whole Foods in Dallas has a huge prepared food selection, and they deliver. If you Google "prepared meal delivery Dallas" you will see lots of choices. :)
