We are in need of a new sofa and loveseat. We have narrowed it down between a set at Lazy-boy, and set at Unclaimed Frieght. The set at Unclaimed frieght is about $600 cheaper than at Lazy-boy. However, Lazy boy has a ten year guarantee vs a five year at UF. We are hoping to spend as little as possible (hoping to cruise dcl again soon). I do daycare and want something that will hold up. Does anybody know anything about UF? I have never heard of them before. We were driving past the store and thought we would take a look.I am a little worried about the quality. I don't want to spend the money on something that is only going to last a few years! Any thoughts?

I just purchased a sofa from Unclaimed Freight last week. DD, DS and the dog destroyed my last sofa. I bought it from Unclaimed Freight for $400 so I don't mind if I have to get another in a few years. If I had bought an expensive one, no one would be allowed to sit on it. :teeth: Sorry I can't be of more help on the quality. It does seem to be pretty sturdy. My DH asked the salesman where they get all there stuff from. He never did give an answer, just blew it off. I am curious as to why their prices are so low. Good luck with your decision.

My brother and I bought a kitchen set for our mom quite a few years ago...No problems, either with quality or delivery (to the store). I don't know if they have delivery service to your home or not. I just bought a pantry there about 2 weeks ago, promised 4 days, and was in on the 4th day afternoon. I picked it up on the 5th day after ordering. Quality seems good, but of course not real wood. I can't complain, since it is only a piece for downstairs in a spare room, and not furniture that I would need upstairs. I would just be very careful about looking over whatever you buy, as far as construction.

That's enough to make me worry right there! Thanks for the link!

No problem! I think they had a few lawsuits in Pa. also-I would avoid them, especially since furniture is a big ticket purchase.

My bedroom set , diningroom set and couch are from unclaimed freight , and I WOULD NOT buy from them ever again. Two of the chairs broke within the first year and my dresser is falling apart. I will not buy from them again. BTW , the couch has two recliners, both foot rests have to be pulled manually because the inside wiring broke.

We bought a dining room table and chairs a while back. We saved money, but definitelyt not top quality, especially when you consider that we had to assemble it ourselves.

The set was 4 years old when we ditched it for a new table last month. 2 of the 4 chairs were broken.

We have a few things (bedroom set, bunk bed, mom has a table and chairs, sofa set) from there with no probelms, knock on wood. I know it is not top quality but I don't have or want to spend the kind of money for better furniture. It works well for us.

My family had problems with them and would never buy from again. They purchased a sofa and it was suppose to be scotchguarded, which it wasn't. At first they wouldn't even refund their money right away. Then they noticed the item was damaged and salesman was just rude about everything. My DH ended up being there when this all happened, which was bad for them, and the two guys made a huge arguement with them (in front of tons of customers)...thus to say, they finally got their money back for the scotchguard and for the damages.

Wouldn't buy from them if they were the last store...I'd make something first.

I bought a sofa, 2 recliners, and 2 wooden hope chests there around 1990. The kids have destroyed the cushions on the sofa (with help from dh), but I did foster care and had 60+ kids in and out of the house in the first 5 yrs I had the furniture. The upolstry (sp?) is mostly stained, not ripped, and the recliners still work with no problems. They're now over 15 yrs old and if they weren't so stained they'd be fine.

We bought a sofa, loveseat, end tables and cocktail tables from them when we first moved into our house. I would never buy from them again. The quality is horrible. They also supposedly went out of business right after we got our furniture and left tons of people without any furniture or refunds. Then they reopened about 6 months later "under new management". There were tons of stories in the papers about this. Not a reputable company IMO.

My sister purchased a houseful of furnature from the m--it was poorly made and didn't hold up at all. After other things I've heard I doubt that the quality has changed. i would pay the extra $600 now and have the furniture with a 10 yr. warranty rather than spend now and spend again in 5 years or less.

Wow, it is scary reading everyone's bad op. Ouur bed set is 8 1/2 years old and my Mom's table set is 15 plus years old and her sofa is 5 plus years all with no problems. Their metal bunk set is only 2 years old, no problems.

I guess I will have to rethink where we go for the next thing we need.

Just an FYI. Lazy Boys guarentee is not as wonderful as you may think. My mom ordered a sectional from there. It was made of some microfiber type material, basically a faux leather. Don't get me wrong though it was expensive, over $3000. After 2 years the seams on the cushions started to split and the material got sticky. Your hair would stick to it and if you sat for a long time your clothes would stick and the burgundy color from the fabric would stick to your clothes. So she called Lazy Boy to take care of it, she expected it to either be replaced ot reupolstered. Well they wouldn't do anything. The warranty they told her was only for the mechanical parts. The recliner mechanism springs and such. She complained and talked to all kinds of people and they wouldn't do anything. She gave the couch to me and I laid quilts over it and put it in the family room. She went and bought a new leather sectional at Basset. So heads up, know what the warranty/guarentee is really for and know that Lazy Boy has terrible customer service. :furious:

Well I think we are going to go with the Lazy Boy set! Since I do daycare, I want something that is going to hold up pretty well. Hopefully with the 10 warrenty on the frame/mechanics, and the 10 year fabric protection we are going to add, we should be set. Thanks for all the feedback! :goodvibes
