We're thinking of going there, but were wondering if there's enough to do for a 13, 11 and 5yr old? How much time should we allocate to be there? Any input would be very helpful.

It is small and really geared toward the younger set, like under 10 (actually fantastic for ages 3-9)BUT I have taken my kids a few times and they love it. There are sometimes special exhibits or activities happening like the Jane Goodall interactive exhibit or an Andy Warhol one where my kids did a print making workshop. There are 3 or 4 levels but each level takes maybe a 20 minutes and the last time we went ( a few years ago now) everything was showing wear and tear. There is a small area for eating if you bring your lunch and a coffe shop type of restaurant linked to it, some fast food in the area too (Harveys I think) My kids still talk about it once in a while but I dont think i would take them now, it would burst their rose coloured memories bubble of that place!
We used to have a family pass. Its fanastic for younger kids with lots of hands on play, but older kids will be bored unless there is a special exhibit geared towards them. The last couple years they have tried to bring in exhibits to interest adults (its no longer called the childrens musuem) but have an extra fee to get into the exhibit on top of the musuem fee.
And it is a small area and can be done in less then 2 hours.
Definitely more for the younger set, and we usually only go when there are special exhibits on. We are planning a trip soon though, as my soon-to-be 10 yr old will definitely want to see the Avatar exhibit on now until Jan.
It's not called the children's museum either now. Just The Museum. It's ok. My 5 year old doesnt last more than an hour. I find it overpriced. The children's museum in London is awesome tho.
