:)We shop in Buffalo (well really Niagara Falls NY)all the time just wondering if it's worth the extra drive to Grove City? Anyone been and want to share their experience. Thanks. :goodvibes

**arghh can't change title should be Has Anyone...

No, I haven't shopped those outlets, but PA does not charge sales tax on clothing so it may very well be worth it from that standpoint alone.

We were thinking of maybe heading out there for a night or two. Apparently there is a Great Wolf Lodge near there so it would double as a family getaway. So interested to hear what others say as I have never been there either.

Haven't been to Grove City, but have been to Splash Lagoon in Erie PA, which is about an hour this side of Grove City. We liked Splash Lagoon as a waterpark destination for our 8 and 10 year olds. Not as well themed as GWL, but clean, well staffed and the slides were great. I don't know of a GWL in that area, but maybe it's the other side of Grove City.

If you decide to go, Erie has good shopping too. No outlet stores, but I did well at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. No tax does make a difference!

We are hoping to go again in the fall. Maybe this time I'll make it down to Grove City.

We have done the PA shopping. there stores are pretty much the same the mall it self is alot larger, there is no tax in PA on clothing. Is it worth the drive it depends on how long your drive is from Toronto your looking at a good 5 hour drive.

I've shopped Grove City a few times on the way to Pittsburg, well worth the trip IMHO. Lots of name brand outlets like Nike,Fossil,Eddie Bauer, Coach and so on. The prices are excellent and as previously said no sales tax on clothing. The best store I find is Vanity fair for clothing they are a Lee jeans outlet and carry other name brand clothing (Nautica for men). The complex is huge so plan on getting there early as parking becomes a nightmare midday and take your time. The food court is small but they do have samples lol.
Hope you enjoy!:yay:

I, personally, haven't been there. But there are a number of my friends and coworkers who plan shopping trips to Grove City annually. They think its worth the drive, for sure.

I'm from Toronto and I've been to Grove City a couple of years ago.
It was worth it for me because my favourite store is the Black House White Market Outlet store and I was able to buy lots of good quality clothing for a great price. :thumbsup2

I shop there every year with friends. It's great. The mall is somewhat the same as the one in Niagara Falls, NY. BUT with lots more stores. It is much bigger. There is no indoor area. It is all outside entrances to the stores. So if it's raining, get prepared to get a 'little' wet. They do have a covered walkway around the entire place, but if it's pouring and coming in at an angle, then you might get a little wet. It's not like there is no covering.

And while they do not charge taxes on clothes, there are also much better deals than in NY. Much better. I have gone during the Canadian Thanksgiving, and scored HUGE discounts. I've gone during regular times, and still walked away better than in NY.

They have 2 hotels right across from the plaza, so you can either walk over or drive over. Whichever you prefer. There is a McDonalds right there. And a food court inside the mall, but has really limited fast food options. If you drive East for about 10-15 minutes, you come into a little community which has much much more. Including a Walmart (but not a new or superstore style). Also, more food options.

I love going!! It's a great little weekend getaway, and if you want, then stop in Erie and shop at the malls and stores there. And that is where Splash Lagoon is as well:)

GWL is in Sandusky, OH... another 3hrs drive from Erie.

Also, someone said that Erie was a 5hr drive from Toronto....it's only a 3hr drive but Grove City is another 45min past Erie.

My apologies. There is a Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos near The Crossings Outlet.

Grove City is exactly 55 minutes from Erie, just drove past there Thursday on our way back from North Carolina. I took my daughter for March Break, and we thought it was just okay - stayed at the Comfort Inn across the road. We much preferred our last two days of shopping in Erie, the Millcreek Mall has every store we love, and Peach Street has every store and restaurant and hotel you could imagine (as well as Splash Lagoon which my nephews love). I think the biggest downfall of Grove City is that it's all outdoors, and it was cool and rainy when we were there, so not the best impression for us. The no tax on clothes and shoes is great, so worth it for us to make a twice yearly trip to Erie, PA for a teenage girl :thumbsup2

I was just at the Grove City outlets on Saturday. We're in that area a few times a year for other reasons, and I always make a point of stopping at the outlets. I like them way, way better than the Niagara Falls outlets. You can see the full list of stores on their website - http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=85 - and they have some of the special sales and offers listed as well. You can usually get a flyer at your hotel to receive a coupon book at guest services, and it's worth the effort.

There's a half a dozen or so hotels nearby, including most of the major chains. We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It's not really walking distance like a couple of the hotels, but I prefer to drive over anyway so that bags can be dropped off in the car at intervals instead of lugging them around - the mall is huge.

Our favourite restaurants there are Hoss's (like a Ponderosa, if you remember those) and King's. The outlet food court is okay if you just want fast food.

The most important thing when booking a hotel is to make sure you are booking Grove City PA - there's also a Grove City in OH, and I have a friend that made that error once and then couldn't get a room because everything was full.

I personally wouldn't waste the time heading over to the "real" community - not enough there to make it worth the 15 min trip. The Walmart at the Peach Street exit in Erie is way better, and that exit in Erie also has a Target, Giant Eagle and a ton of other stores and restaurants, and it's a pretty short drive to the Millcreek Mall if you have time. On a long weekend trip, we'll generally do Grove City first, then stop in Erie on the way back. We often split the hotel stays, with a night or two in each place.

I love LOVE Grove City Outlets. However, because it is a 5 and a half hour drive for us, we go once a year and basically fill up the car.

I always laugh when at the end of the day, each garbage can in the entire complex is overflowing to the floor from Canadians throwing out shoe boxes before heading home:rotfl:
