OT- Another pregnancy question...Braxton Hicks

Wight DD# 3 I started having what most would call BH on June 1st Every 2 mins did not matter how much I drank and I always had a bottle of water in my hand an by my bed at night. Did not matter if I was active or resting the pains was there. DH missed several nights of work because Dr kept sending me to hospital to be monitered.

Finally Aug 6th dr decided to send me to hospital for an induction baby was not due for another 2 weeks but I was measuring big too. I went in at 6am on the 8th of august got hooked up to the IV for the induction immediately an the dr broke my water an said Well there is a 10 pounder that lost a couple pounds because I had so much water. 30 hours later YES 30 hours with an induction of pitocin an being double bagged most of the night I pushed out a 10 1/2 pounder.

A few weeks later in a breastfeeding book I was reading I found out WHY I couldn't make enough milk for any of my babies tho I'd always tried an WHY I had to be induced into labor ALL 3 of them.

The same harmone that starts labor an keeps it going also makes breast milk Pitocin is a replacement for that harmone apparently I do not make that harmone.

I really do think I'd been in labor all those weeks because when dr started that induction my musus plug still had not thinned out an I'd been 2 fingers dialated since I started having what the dr tried to tell me was BH .

And too my breasts always filled up with milk 3 days after deliverary but only 1 time no matter how much I nursed or pumped after that 1 time I never got more than an ounce of milk out of both breasts when I pumped.

Most women never go thru what I did thank goodness. An just because some one is induced with pitocin does not mean they won't be able to breast feed most don't need near the pitocin I did to have a baby nor are they in labor for 30 hours with an induction.

Being a FTM I had no idea what any type of contractions felt like. I got lucky and knew they were the "real" contractions because i started a bloody show at 4 o'clock in the morning. I called the doctor hung out at my house until 10 and then went to the hospital. They made me walk around for an hour and I went from 3 to 4 centimeters dilated. They gave me pain medicine and an IV. Hr later an epidural.

I have very fast labors, and always had lots of BH starting early in my pregnancies. With my 3rd child, my BH started at 16 weeks. I ended up having a 45 minute labor (from first contraction to delivery...I barely made it to the hospital).

When my BH got too bad, I would sit with a LARGE glass of water, and put my feet up.

Also, you could practice your relaxation exercises during your BH contractions. Of course, the BH won't be as painful as the "real" thing, but you can practice relaxing your whole body during the BH.

BTW, near the end of my pregnancy with #3, I would get many BH throughout the day.

Good luck! :)
