OT: Am I crazy or have Chick-Fil-A nuggets shrunk?

Last time I ate at Chick-Fil-A I noticed that the nuggets seemed tiny. Thought to myself maybe it was a fluke. But I noticed the same thing today...those darn things look shrunken! Have I lost my mind, is this new or am I just now noticing it? I remember the nuggets taking 2-3 bites (normal, not teen-boy sized ;) ) to eat, but 90% of the nuggets we ordered were very thin and only a little wider than a quarter. Barely one biters!

While I would be happy to enjoy the option of smaller portions, it's kind of irritating to be paying the same price and getting what feels to be much less.

But like I said...I am open to the idea that I may just be going loco. :rolleyes1

They seem the same size to me. Maybe you are thinking of the chicken strips? :confused3 My DH and I both used to work there and ate there last night and the nuggets seemed the same size as always.

A long time ago they used to have really small nuggets, they were not even nuggets more like 1/4 bites. you got a container full & they were so good.

We aren't special enough to have them or Sonic here in michigan (although we get onslaughted with the commericals on the radio and tv :confused3 ) but I was able to try chick-fil-a on our way down to disney world. I ordered the nuggets and almost went back up to the counter saying I paid $$'s, why did I get the kiddie meal size. Nope they are TINY. That was our first and last time there. It may be a good restaruant, but as it stands, too much mulah for too little food.

I agree - they have gotten smaller over the years - I always thought they were expensive. . . but this makes it worse.

It may be hit or miss. I actually commented to DH that I thought they were larger last time. :confused3

This is a very common practice and it is called product inflation. Rather than increase the price of a product they decrease the size or amount you get. Therefore you get less product for the same dollar.

Ironically, this then allows the US gov to say inflation is in check since the price of the product actually remained the same.

funny you have said that! My husband went to McD's yesterday and ordered a Quarter pounder. He swore that it was smaller than what it use to be. Now they should not be since 1/4lb should still be 1/4lb no matter how you look at it unless you are using a cheaper grade of meat, one that shrinks more  It is either that or the non-trans-fat they are using, not sure which. He said it did not even taste the same as they use to :sad2: this coming from a man who loves his 1/4 lb'ers

OT - but still about Chick-Fill-A. I haven't been to an actual restaurant in years, just the ones in the mall. Do the REAL stand-alone places still have the little Dijon-honeymustard packets?

I Loved that sauce. I'd put it on the regular Chick-Fil-A sandwich or use it as strips.

PS - I"m talking about the stuff that used to come in the ketchup type packet, not like a little dipping cup.

You mean the honey roasted bbq sauce packets? That stuff is addicting. I told them they need to sell it by the bottle! There is a recipe clone on top secret recipes, but when I made it it wasn't quite as thick as the real thing.

I have no idea if it shrunk or not but I have to say thank you for the laugh! I was just sitting herre reading all the posts about how expensive everything has gotten and how everyone seems to be struggling to make ends meet and I was feeling sad, scared, nervous etc. about the crisis that seems to be enveloping our entire country. Then I read "am I crazy or is chick fila's chicken nugget shrinking?" I burst out laughing!! I don't know why, but I thought that comment was hilarious!!! Thanks for the laugh!

Nope, it's just Dijon mustard and honey. It was awesome. I've never found it in the mall locations, and that's all I've been to for several years.

Hmmm... I've never seen that one. I know they keep the one I like behind the counter; next time I'm there I'm going to ask about the Dijon packets.
