I just got an e-mail this afternoon confirming that she is the next AG girl to be archived. I guess its a "while supplies last" kind of thing? :confused3 I didn't see a date. I told DD about it, she never showed an interest in Felicity but now wants her :headache:. So I guess we'll try to budget accordingly, Christmas is coming and her birthday is in January.

O and also AG will be on QVC Sept 11th 4-6PM estrn time. Wonder if they will have a nice bundle for her and Lanie.

I got that email from them as well. I ended up making a "run" to the online store to pick up Elizabeth (friend of Felicity as they are archiving her as well) and her outfits as my daughter has been wanting her for awhile (her grandmother gave her Felicity for her birthday this year). I was originally going to give her Rebecca's bed for Xmas - Rebecca was her gift from my husband and I to her for her birthday (and no her grandmother didn't buy Felicity for her but rather GAVE her 'her' Felicity doll she bought back in the early 90's). So now I will give her Elizabeth for Xmas and a couple of the outfits for her birthday next year and the rest of the outfits for Xmas 2011.

I agree that it is so expensive and this will pretty much be her Xmas gifts for the next two Xmas and birthday gifts. That and my brother wants me to usually buy her gift, from him, so he "bought her" one of the outfits as well.

Crazy Crazy though, there was so much speculation that it would be Molly, DD got Molly for her birthday last year b/c Kit needed a friend :rotfl:
I guess we'll see what happens, DD wanted Lanie too but I don't think I could justify getting her 2 and then big accessories for the dolls (like beds, tables, etc) and video games and God knows what else she'll want by the time the holidays roll around. of all the AG Girls I think Felicity would be the easiest to gift @ consignment shops yard sales, etc b/c she been around so long, and I'll take used AG for cheap lol.

OMG thank you for the heads up! I have Samantha, and the Christmas I got her I asked for Felicity or Samantha. Deep down I've always wished I had Felicity instead. I'm a big early American history buff, my degree is in History, focused in early American. So, naturally I love Felicity. I had always planned on buying it for my DD. She's only 2, but now I feel like I should buy it and put it away for Christmas a couple years from now. Why must they archive the dolls???

We are fairly new to AG...DD just got interested last year and got her first doll for Christmas. She wants Felicity and now with her retiring I want to get her for her for this Christmas. Any chance she will still be available for purchase in a few weeks? I would like to wait for the QVC show to see if they have a deal for her or should I go ahead and order her now.

What do you guys think??

Guess I have shopping of my own to do. Though as an adult I've bought a lot of outfits. I think I'm only missing a few.

But my Felicity is the original red headed version. She got fawned over by the managers at AG place when I brought her in for a cleaning few years ago. Maybe, I should splurge on the trunk for myself. Though the thought of Elizabeth is tempting. :rotfl: Yes the addiction is still there for childless adults.

Wow! DD just got Elizabeth last Christmas and wanted Felicity, but we never got her. I guess we'll get her now and save her for her Birthday next May. She's already asked for too many things for Christmas, so she'll have to wait for her. I need a free shipping code though. I don't want to pay for that too.

I guess I'll look online and see what they have available.

i got this e-mail 2-3 days ago, and i told DD12 about it-she loves her AG dolls, but didn't really seem interested. thank goodness. AG is a very expensive habit.

I just bought 3 of Elizabeth's outfits, the Felicity DVD and 3 of Felicity mystery books.

DH wants me to wait on the Felicity doll. I guess I can, but I'm afraid they'll be gone. I'll wait until the QVC American girl show and see if they have her for a deal. After that all bets are off and I'll order her.

Someone correct me if I am wrong...I believe with Kirsten they said she would be available until Winter 2009 (or whatever the season/year was) and gave the heads up a few months in advance. However her accessories were available until the quantities were sold out. So even though she may have been available until the winter, her stuff I think was still there throughout the spring. I am pretty sure that was how it went with Chrissa's accessories too last year. And I also think Kirsten was n QVC as well last year even though she was being archived.

I won Pleasant Co. Samantha on Ebay for a decent price and spruced her up for DD...we are are the lookout for Kailey lol.

GL w/ whatever you decide to do.

We just got the email too. We were just at the AG cafe in NYC 2 weeks ago. DD has little interest in the historical dolls. She loves the Girl of the Year though. I think we'll be fine in NOT buying Felicity (although I think she's adorable).

Hoping there are some good bundles on QVC next week!

I'm going to need to watch the QVC on the 11th. Have they done that before with AG? If so what were the offerings and were any of them "deal".

We are going up to the AG store in NYC next weekend for my daughter to get her birthday doll, she's been asking for the My American Girl doll but I know she also wants Felicity to go with Elizabeth which she got last year. I may have to talk DH into letting me get her a doll for Christmas now, usually we just buy her a doll for her b-day and for Christmas get her doll clothes and accessories. I also have to pick up a Bitty twin boy while there too, maybe I should just have DH wait outside so he doesn't see how much I spend in there :scared1:

Oh no, not again LOL. I swear, as soon as DD gets wind of who is retiring, that's who she is dying for.

I need to remember to watch QVC next week, I'm in Hawaii, so 6 hrs off...I guess it's from 10-noon for me.

Yes, they offer bundles usually. Last year they had a Kit, I think her dog, dress, and the scooter I think and if you purchased those items separately you would have paid an extra $30 or something like that. I didn't buy the bundle last year b/c I wanted to see if DD really would play with AG, I sure wish I would have, ended up buying all that stuff throughout the year for her anyways.

I think they had a Girl of the Year bundle too last year and a bitty baby one as well, if I remember correctly that one was quite nice. The doll, crib, chair, and some little accessories for a nice discounted price. they also had a felicity bundle, but I don't remember if it was a great deal or not.

I too received the email about Felicity being archived. I have always loved the AG dolls since I love American History. My first doll was Molly (my fave since she had glasses and I wore glasses) that I bought with my "own" money back in 1994. I put own in quotes because it was just birthday/allowance money I had put into a savings account. I remember the withdrawal I made at the bank to buy her was the first withdrawal I made from that account. A couple years later I got Kirsten but I never played with her like I did with Molly. My mom even made me some of Molly's clothes.

When I heard about Samantha it was too late to buy her and I was really sad since she was my next favorite of the original AGs. I anticipated Felicity was going to be the next archived so my mom bought her for me last Christmas and Rebecca for herself.

It's a shame that they have to archive the dolls.

Felicity was my DD's second AM Girl doll...right after Samantha. She got Elizabeth the first year she came out. She was a huge fan of the Felicity DVD and used to watch the movie over and over again changing the dolls outfits as they changed in the movie. So we have ALL the clothing and the horse. I don't buy the furniture, so the only thing DD still wants for Felicity is Patriot the horse. I may pick that up this week before it sells out.

BTW, my DD gets excited when they retire dolls that she has including the girls of the year dolls because that means that no one else can buy them. She thinks it makes her special!

My DD10 loves Felicity so I hurried up and ordered her the last couple of outfits she didn't have and Patriot's foal. I told her that I refuse to pay the costs for the furniture. I think those are just ridiculous.

I found some things at Target last year that worked well - a bed, bathtub set and the hair salon for their large size dolls. She was happy with those.

Last year when they archived Kirsten, I waited a month before ordering and most of the stuff was already gone then and I ended up getting the things that DD wanted from ebay instead at a higher cost. Darn it.

I've got DD's birthday in early October and then Christmas so I've now got a head start on gifts for both.

I didn't get the e-mail, I guess I haven't bought anything from AG in so long I'm off the list!

I'm sorry to see Felicity go, I have one of the original ones from the early '90s. There's only a few outfits of hers still sold by AG that I want, I'll have to see about picking those up before they sell out. I am glad they aren't archiving Molly though - there was so much speculation that she'd be the next to go, since she's the last of the original 3 dolls left. Molly was my first AG, & there's more of her things left that I still need to get!

It is really sad to see AG decimating the historical line the way they are. I guess the modern dolls bring in a lot more money now, but the historical dolls are the heart of the company as it originally was. Hopefully they'll release a new historical doll soon to replace the ones being archived, as they released Rebecca soon after Samantha was archived.

I believe the email said that retiring these dolls makes room for dolls from other historical periods. My bet is that it will be a 50s doll. I don't know why, I just feel that.
