OT - 800 count thread sheets, worth it?

Do you have a Tuesday Morning store near you? I have bought all of mine there and they are a good price (50-100) depending on thread count. They really are wonderful! As a side note..Pottery Barns sheets are also quite fantastic, I don't know what their thread count is! Happy Sleeping!

The higher the thread count, the softer the sheets will get as you wash them. I have a set of Martex sheets from Target that I have had for over five years and they are so soft and I have no problems with them getting holes in them. I wash my sheets once a week so they get plenty of washing, but for being bought at Target and not spending as much money as comparable sheets at other stores, they have held up wonderfully.

I have 800 TC sheets and one set is great and the other is going in my next yardsale. Be careful when purchasing they are not all created equal. lol I second the Hotel brand someone mentioned earlier I like that brand too.

Personally, I found that Egyptian Cotton is much softer than Sateen or other types of cotton sheets. We have EC 350TC that feel so much better than 1000TC regular cotton.

ITA - I couldnt believe there was such a softer difference with the Egyptian Cotton - they were expensive, but I got them on the clearance rack!

Could you clarify this statement? I don't understand why you would want holes in sheets.

I didn't want the holes I ended up with them because the higher thread count ended up making the sheets thinner and less snag worthy! We ended up with Egyptian Cotton as well and have been much happier!

if you are going 800 sister go 1000 EC you will be on a small piece of heaven if you can put a sleep number bed under them you will never leave bed LOL

We got some higher TC sheets at Target on clearance, and they were egyptian cotton as well. They are WONDERFUL. So soft and awww...just nice. The only thing is that both sets we bought had a seam rip on the pillow cases almost immediately after the first wash. We wash our sheets once or twice a week so they thin out pretty quickly....one set has a quarter size hole (1000 or so TC) and the other set is still going strong (slightly smaller TC).

I've seen hotel brand at Marshall's and TJMaxx I believe? I know I saw hotel brand towels...just can't be sure of the sheets. I may have to check out that brand...time for new sheets but I haven't seen any good ones on clearance at Target lately LOL

I bought our 1000 ct sheets at Kohls three years ago and they are still wonderful. We also bought some through overstock but they were not as good. Wait for Kohl's to have a sale. Often you can get them for 50% off combine it with the 30% off code for Kohl's customers order them online and google the code if you do not get a 30% off coupon and have them shipped to you. King size will end up costing around $65 a set.
