Hi all-

DD8 will host her first sleepover this Friday and I'm a little unsure of what to do. The granddaughter of our neighbor has spent most of the summer here. She and DD are the same age and very alike. They play for hours at a time without squabbling. They finish one another's sentences. Well, they have been dying to have a sleepover. This Friday they will sleep at our house. :yay:

I think I made a big mistake. I asked the girls tonight to make a list of things they want to do for a sleepover. (Mind you, the girls know that this cannot be a stay up all night affair, as DD has an 8am basketball game.) Their list consists of:

Food - pizza, party mix, sand castle cake, chocolate shakes, frosting sandwiches (cake)

Activities - 5 movies, swimming, Polly Pockets, singing, bed at 10:30

I know I've forgotten a couple in my shock. This list could keep them busy--and sick--for a week. Any sleepover pros have some ideas how to pare down their list without squashing their enthusiasm? Any great ideas that no sleepover should be without? Will we get any sleep? :scared:

Thanks!

Tell them that it was a great list and they can pick two from each category.

I think you'll get sleep..but putting a Disney video on and making a little camp on the floor and 8 yr olds won't be able to fight it for too long.

After a certain hour you decide it's quiet time and they engage in quiet activities...moving watching is the only option that I give..that and sleep, it's pretty quiet.

I have 4 DD and sleepovers at my house for Birthday Parties usually meant 12 girls in my house. They were always allowed to have as many guests as their age.

You do the math..I survived and so will you.

I like the two from each list idea. That should work. I was thinking that letting them camp out in front of the tv might be the best way to get them to sleep. Good to know it works!

I know I'll survive--even if they don't sleep. It's just that as it gets closer and then getting the neverending list last night, I figured the DIS was the place to go for help and encouragement from some sleepover experts.

Thanks!
