Oswald is back!

Saw on Twitter that Oswald is coming back to California Adventure for the Lunar New Year Festival since it is the Year of the Rabbit. Ortensia is making her debut with alongside him. I'm glad he's coming back to the parks and hope this means his shop will finally get more merchandise back in it. This article says he makes regular appearances but he wasn't there in DCA this past summer when we went.

The very first time we ever went to DCA, Oswald was at the front of the park, and he took both my girls by the hand and walked up and down Buena Vista Street with them. It was so special. This was back in June 2019 and we never saw him out there again. So glad he’s back.

It really felt inevitable with the Year of the Rabbit and 100 Years of Wonder happening at the same time. I'm just extra happy to see Ortensia is joining him too!

I also hope this means that Oswald makes more frequent appearances and that Oswald‘s shop gets his merchandise back. It just makes the entrance to Buena Vista Street a little more special. It’s supposed to represent the story of Walt coming to California, so it thematically makes sense to start with Oswald. I know his shop is still there in name, but it’s just a little bit less special when it’s filled with generic merchandise.

Not that I don't hope for Oswald to be a permanent regular return and Ortensia to be a regular addition, I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Right now I would expect her to go back to the vault after LNY festival ends February 15.

Okay? What is your point with this response? They've had Ortensia merch before too over the years (including a plush as well as a few pins) if you mean it to be an indication she'll become regular. They also have a lot of Marie merch and she's a rare character at DLR.

Oswald stopped being a regular for awhile even though he has an entire store named after him . He only showed up very randomly the last few years and rarely had a PP CM with him. I sent feedback in about it every trip.

I hope it'll change, but I'm also prepared it won't.

I kind of hope with him being featured in some of the Disney100 stuff that at least Oswald will stick around beyond the Lunar New Year celebration. Had to push my trip originally planned for next week back a few weeks, so now won't be there until a couple of weeks after LNY ends.

They had an Ortensia plush, pins, and I believe an earhat with the hat and flower on it back when I got my Oswald ears in 2016. All of it was in the Oswald's shop at the front of the park.

Yup, was a lot more merch (comparatively speaking) back then. But no Ortensia meet and greet . Merch doesn't equal meet and greet. But maybe if they see she's popular enough they'll let her stick around for a bit post LNY.

He's been around randomly before LNY too, just not as regularly as he once was in the handful of years post Epic Mickey. So fingers crossed you run into him

I feel like I saw Oswald periodically in 2021 and 2022.

He hangs out near the exit, around the corner towards the left exit gate as you are leaving. It's really easy to not see him if you don't look for him there.

When they were still doing the social distance characters he was near the fountain in 2021.

Long time WDW fans, we'll be visiting DL for the first time this Sept. Oswald is my absolute favorite. Praying hard that we get to get a pic with him.

Went to DCA yesterday 2/11, only Oswald was out, no Ortensia. ((((

Ortensia was back today (2/12/23). M&G order was Oswald, Ortensia, Mickey & Minnie, Mulan & Mushu.
