Anyone know if they do anything special for Oscar Night? Or if they, at the very least, televise the channel?

I think it depends on where you are on that date, what station is broadcasting the show and whether DCL gets that channel. I was surprised that we couldn't watch any of the Olympics because they didn't get any channels that showed them.

Not surprised the Olympics weren’t showing considering they were on NBC affiliated channels. The Oscars are shown on ABC, which is owned by Disney. Oscars are in the evening, too, so we won’t be at a port. At port is typically when channels aren’t available. Keeping my fingers crossed…

You never know, though. The Super Bowl was on NBC this year, but ESPN was simulcasting it, so Disney was able to show it on the cruise ships. We didn't get to see the good commercials, though. Just a bunch of ESPN ads for more ESPN shows.

We watched the Oscars down in O'Gills Pub during the WBPC cruise in 2019. One of the entertainment staff ran an Oscar trivia contest during the show, and, just prior to the show, we could put in our guesses for the Oscar winners, and the closest number of winners afterwards got a prize pack, which we won!
Of course, that was in the before times, when the bar was allowed to get pretty full, and the company was generous with prizes, so who even knows what they might do this year. It also seems like that would be an activity more geared for the longer cruises. And-- could depend on if someone in the entertainment staff is more 'into' the Oscars and sets up the programming.

We're movie buffs and are hoping to watch the Oscars this year while we are on the Wonder. Any more recent reports of where they might be shown? Thanks

According to the Personal Navigators from Disneycruiselineblog, last year’s Oscars night had two sessions of Oscar Trivia, 5:30 and 7:45, in Crown & Fin Pub, to accommodate the two dinner groups. It was the first night of a 4-night Baja cruise. The Golden Mickeys were in the WDT and no Oscar showing was listed in any public venue.

Thanks for your research. This year, it will be on the 10th night of a 10-night cruise, so hopefully it will play in a public venue or at least on our stateroom TVs.

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if being on ABC meant it was a guarantee that it would be shown on our stateroom TVs, since I wasn't sure if they always show live programming.
I wouldn’t count in it. If it happens, that would be a bonus. I don’t remember watching regular shows being shown on the same schedule as you would watch at home.

Definitely check the schedules once onboard. You may get lucky. As others pointed out, where you are in relation to ports and certain regions can affect what they are allowed to air.

In 2018 I watched the Oscars in both my stateroom and on the Funnel Vision on the Wonder.

I can't remember the year, but I think our Oscar night was in the Buena Vista Theatre, we were each handed a ballot with every category/nominee listed, and had to make our selections before the awards ceremony. My memory might be wrong, but I seem to recall watching the Oscars in the theatre but the screen would black out during commercials.

That's quite an array of different experienced depending on the ship and year. I'll post on our return what I experience was. Thanks to everyone who provided an answer!
