Noticed today Oscar Meyer beef hotdogs are down to 15 oz. They have a nice new premium package on it, but I got to looking today and sure enough your getting a ounce less.:headache:

Maybe they are actually adding real beef to them now? Had to raise the price.

:thumbsup2 That's what I was thinking! LOL

I don't remember the last time I had a "hot dog" that can be purchased at a typical grocery store...I can't recall what they even taste like. I see my nieces and nephews eat them at family gatherings and they just gross me out. They don't look like meat.

I recently watched a How's It Made on hot dogs. It doesn't bother me at all that there is 1 ounce less of that stuff in the package.

I thought the same thing. Consider this a gift to your future health.

somehow I just knew the responses in this thread would be more towards bashing hot dogs and less to their decrease in size.

So, are there fewer hot dogs, or are they smaller? One ounce split among eight or ten hot dogs is negligible; one fewer makes a big difference in value - and throws off the whole hot-dog-package to hot-dog-bun-package ratio.

I think her issue isn't with the specific product - and if it is, so what? - but rather with the perpetual shrinking product and lost value.

Well she took the time out of her day to come and reprimand people in a passive aggressive way no less about "bashing" hotdogs. Then, she didn't even bother to comment on the very topic of the thread.
So, yes I find that amusing to say the least.

No hot dog bashing from me! I love hot dogs & Oscar Meyer has always been my favorite, lol. Haven't bought any in awhile so wasn't aware of the "lighter" product. Have noticed a lot of products seem to be shrinking.

Gotta buy either Hebrew National or Nathans if you want something edible....on a national level.

There are local products here and there that are better than all.

Then of course, there are always tofu dogs...:smokin:

I hadn't noticed that there is an ounce less in the OM hot dog package because we generally just buy them during the summer "camping season." I love hot dogs though. People can bash them all they want, it's not going to change my love for them. :) In fact, generally when DH wants to grill hamburgers I'll have him put on a couple hot dogs for me instead. :)

I hate that so many companies are "downsizing" their products, yet either charging the same or even more...for less of the product! Toilet tissue is a big one, the rolls have gotten less and less wide. :(

Another example is the "Big One" blanket throw from Kohl's. I bought my dd one on Black Friday a couple years ago and she loves it. She asked me this year to get a couple for her kids as they kept hogging hers, lol. So on Black Friday this year I ordered online 2 "Big One" throws for them. Same size as hers and still a good throw but nowhere near as thick/fluffy as the one I bought a couple years ago.

of course, food police make their living here.

And you have a problem with that? Thanks for the laugh :rotfl2:

I kinda do maleficent,

I know what's in hot dogs just like I know the Mcdonalds can be bad for you but you know what? every once in a while I love Micky d's French fries and I kind of prefer them without condemnation.

some how I highly doubt giving my kids a hot dog at the family 4th of july picnic is going to do them in.

So I'm like ICF, I know God forbid some one admits to eating unhealthy food, the holier than thou food police will be ready to step in and say how horrible it is.
Can't we assume that the op, knows how to feed her family?

Overall, I definitely understand the rock companies are between. cost have risen on every thing. so they either have to absorb those cost, raise the price of goods or give us less.

It's real beef parts - you know innards..

Which is why I always laugh when people freak out about it. Cultures all over the world eat all the other parts of the animal. However, here in the US we feel like we are "too good" for it. Blood, kidneys, brains, testicles, heart... all of these are perfectly good parts of the animal that we just throw away because they are "icky".

Growing up, my dad raised and butchered his own cows. Our elderly neighbor took all the aprts we didn't want and used them. Tongue, heart, all of it. Nothing there is going to hurt you.

Sugardale hot dogs are really good and the package is still 16 oz. as of now. There are 8 in a pack, which matches up to the number of buns in a pack. And yes, we eat hot dogs in my house. The men like cheese coneys and I can make them for a lot less than ordering them from the local chili places.
