I spoke with a cast member yesterday regarding the Osbourne lights and this is what she told me.

"The Osbourne lights will not be shown this year, due to a rehab of the Backlot Tour and an addition to that area. The new area is scheduled to open in 2005.

Disney is considering other options within the Studios for the showing of the Osbourne Lights (not for this year though) until the new area is completed".

Just thought you'd like to know.

That's a shame. It is so beautiful.. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't seen it and was planning on seeing it this year.

That be me! :(

Dopey Sharon I am so sorry they are messing up your plans. It really is a sight to see. Hey now you need to make plans for another trip next year.

I realize there is nothing they can do, and they have to keep making changes to the parks, but Im still bummed out! I was always dead set against going over the holidays because the possibility of bad weather(anything below 60 while in Florida is bad to me, LOL) and the crowds. However we saw a picture of the OL in the AAA magazine last year and that got me interested. After checking out more pictures on line I was determined to go to see them someday. They look amazing! Since we got APs this year, somehow we managed to throw in a Christmas trip that we werent planning on and I was thrilled...mostly to see those lights. Needless to say Im disappointed. We will still go and get to experience the other holiday happenings, but I do think I will feel like something is missing..the thing that made me want to go in the first place. :(

Mickey is with Dopey Sharon on this one. Man, I had so wanted to see the Osborne Lights. I love Christmas light looking and this is just the coolest display hands down. Oh well, maybe in 2005 or 2006, we can try again. Mickey

If it is true, yes it is a shame. We have gone for the past four years and it is a truly amazing sight. It is kinda hard to get into the Holiday Spirit in FL with the weather. Walk down the main street of MGM, drinking HC and feeling the snow hit your face soon corrected that.
The sound system playing all the standard carols was like walking in a concert hall.
MK is very special and you still should come to see that. I tell all my friends back home in IL they have to make one trip to WDW at Christmas season. I enjoy Seaworld as well.
I guess I have always been a Christmas Child as nothing revs my motor like the lights and decorations of that season.

It is a shame, especially to those of us who never saw the lights and REALLY wanted to see them, but we're still going, and, hopefully, seeing all the resorts decorated for the holidays, will make up for it. :D

I agree nothing feels more like Christmas that The Lights and Walking around drinking hot chocolate in the light up mugs. Hubby was nice enough to by for me. In Florida, we miss out on the changing of the seasons and even though it get a bit cold, there is nothing like snow on Christmas.

FloridaCat, I am from IL too. I only miss the snow at Christmas time. We have been going to Disney in Dec. to see all the lights and the "snow" for the past 2 years. I'm hooked. We have been going 3 to 4 times a year since '91, but never were able to go around the holidays until 2 years ago.

I am so sorry they are not having the OL this year.

Diane

If I can only have one visit to WDW, it will be in December. Yes it is the Christmas time I think of snow.

Hit the link I left above for a early present.
