Osborne Lights

Seems that there were a BUNCH of us DISpeople at the Osborne lights on Sat, Dec 11...I was there with my sister and 2 friends . First time for all of us so no comparison.
I thought it was awesome...so many!...but can imagine how the change would be hard to take for those of you who saw it the old way first.
We went to Fantasmic and then rushed over, trying to beat the crowds. HA!. Had to walk about a mile just to find the end of the line. but the line moved fast and we had plenty of time walking through an dtaking photos. I'm intrigued by the 3D glasses tho....can anyone explain what they had in 3D format.

I don't think they have the glasses this year. A figure is repeatedly etched onto the lenses, say an angel. When you look at the lights you will see the lights as angels.

I also thought they were way "over the top". How much imagination does it take to cover every square of inch of space with lights. My favorite part was the NY townhouses that had a more residential feeling to them. I wouldn't go to see them again unless we had people with us who hadn't seen them before.

I think they were always over the top, but I like them.

I also think it was always tacky. I would never decorate my house like that. I haven't seen them this year but I saw the pics and liked them just as much as when they were on residential street.

We went last night (Sunday 12/19) for the first time and my DH and I thought they were absolutely incredible! So many lights! It was so pretty and there was so much to look at we were just mesmerized.

I have never seen MGM as crowded as it was last night. We got there around 4 pm and I was worried sick that we wouldn't see the lights because of all the people. There were no lines or mobs or anything though. We walked over about 6:30 and took a nice stroll through. It was crowded but there was plenty of room to wander around and take pictures, etc. We loved it!

I was really dissapointed when we had to postpone our trip from early this month to the end of next month, and one of the reasons was because I love Osborne Lights. Now this thread has made me feel better about missing them. Without the suburban neighborhood feel I think I would be among those that miss the old version and be dissapointed and I know I am not upset about missing those crowds!

What time in the evening does this stay open till? Are the crowds better at a later time? Thanks

6pm to closing time. Crowds were MUCH better at around 6:30pm

Since the park doesnt close until 10pm next week, wouldn't it be better to go around 9pm or so? Thanks
