I am trying to decide if I want to do the Osborne Lights Party - do you think that the party area will impact the viewing for everyone else? I like to view from the upper end of the street not down by Lights Action. Also do think it will be a come and go type thing? I really can't find too much information on it.

I always walk through all the areas, not stay in one place.

I think the Osborne Lights are going to be extremely crowded this year as it is the last year and it sounds like a lot of people on here are making short trips to see the lights. As for the party, I heard it will be a come and go type party so you could grab some desserts or a drink and walk around but also have a place to sit and watch the lights as well. I booked the party for something to surprise my mom with but I'm not sure it will be worth the cost…you do get a free blanket so I'm hoping it will at least be a cool blanket.

No it doesn't impact anyone else, the party area is held where the old Backlot tour shuttle used to loop around, so it's close to the LMA entrance. The tables and chairs and desserts are all located inside the gated area so you will be sitting right underneath the Peace on Earth globe and angels.
It is come and go, so you can grab food and drinks and walk around, but since the lights turn on at 6pm and the party area isn't opened until 7pm I would try to walk around for that first hour, then relax and sit and enjoy from the dessert area, then walk around some more

I'm trying to wrap my mind around spending $70 for a few desserts, a blanket, and a place to sit during the light show. I've never done a dessert party before and it just seems like an awful lot of money for what you get. Are the dessert parties usually worth the expense? Being able to watch the light show from a relatively uncrowded location is worth quite a bit, I'm just not sure it's worth $70. :)

We did the Frozen themed party last year on the first night of the Osborne Family Lights. We had never done a Disney party before or seen the lights. The viewing for the lights was pretty cool and we liked it a lot. We also walked around and I didnt feel like we missed out on anything. What I felt was underrated was after a long day in the park being able to sit down and watch the lights with a drink in your hand. As with any Disney party, dont do it for the 'value' of deserts/drinks/gift. There was no way I was eating $90 worth of Mickey Ears. If you value the exclusiveness, separate uncrowded area, and relaxing nature of the area; go for it.

Thanks. I was thinking along those lines, but I kept getting hung up on the cost. But then everything at Disney is very expensive. :)

This!!! We did it for convenience, experience, souvenirs & treats. Yes, everyone's value is different. It was so worth the cost to us, our 1st Disney Christmas & 1st Christmas away from home. Great surprise for daughter. We had a invite made (DISigns Thread) for stocking stuffer that morning in hotel room. Even though it rained & location was moved, it was still worth it. No dancing lights due to rain, but we still enjoyed the lights!! It was nice to go in & out when rain would stop. Lol! We walked the streets & had photo ops with PhotoPass photographers. No we couldn't eat everything, but my DD7 tried. But we sampled everything between the 3 of us. The "drinks" & hot cocoa were excellent, especially with the cool weather. Place to sit after being in park all day was WONDERFUL. So cost was worth to us!!!!!

This year I would think more crowded since last year of lights, this would be my value/worth this year! I haven't read up up party this year. Every ticket gets a blanket? Every ticket received souvenir for frozen & special seating for Sing Along & Keepsake Lanyard. DD7 daughter excitement/experience PRICELESS for that amount. Money not growing on trees, but made cuts other places, b/c @ that point it didn't seem like much compared to total trip cost @ Christmas.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I just signed up for the dessert party. I'm sure I'll enjoy it a lot. :)

If DHS closes at 8 PM (as it does the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend) does the Dessert Party also end at 8, or will it go a little longer than that?

I signed up for the party on Dec 29th. I am going to read the reviews and see what others say. I'll probably keep the reservation. It is an experience and this being the last year makes it a little special.
