I am up here now... (I say up because it is north of where I live ;)) . I am staying at Oak Plantation and it just finished raining here. Not sure if it is raining in Universal now but were were there this morning and is was hot! We headed back to the resort by 1pm to relax by the pool.

The news is on now saying that there was/is hail in parts of Orange County (near Mt Dora, Apopka, Eustis..not near Universal)

OMG!! It's hotter in PA than there MW :faint:

:teacher: A quick lesson homies going to USO this week!

Central FLA is the lightning capt of the states. You have abetter chance of getting struck by lightning then winning the lottery here..

The weather in central FLA changes rapidly,so keep a eye to the sky in the afternoon..

If you can here thunder, you are @ risk..

Please be careful on your vacation, and have fun:thumbsup2

This comes from someone that lived in FLA all his life!!!!!!

That is very interesting. It's kinda like you hve a better chance of being killed by a dog then being killed by a shark. You would never expect it

How very true!! I am glad you brought that up.. many come here and seem to forget that lightning can kill. Many do not know that we are the lightning capital of the United States. I was sitting in my unit yesterday and watching people by the pool.. not even leaving when the storm was approaching. I do not play when a storm approaches.. I head for shelter. Our storms are nothing to play with. If it is only rain, yes, stay and play. However, if you hear thunder as you said.. then lightning is near..take cover, don't take chances. Today we were under a tornado watch for about 45 minutes. There are at least 4 patio tables and umbrella's that have been turned over by the pool. I saw the dark clouds coming and left Universal and headed back to the condo... and glad I did. This was a nasty storm. It is still thundering and lightning out as I type. I am on a laptop... not plugged in... and I am not that comfortable doing it. Just wanted to check a few things and then off I am going....

my middle DS took a jolt in good old western pa during little league game, thunder rumbled & coach took them to picnic shelter wherein my guy was holding onto chain link fence when it was struck...knocked him out of his spikes:eek: (of course when i was on a different t-ball field with youngest DS)

short hospital stay, all better except for the pesky brain wave alteration:rolleyes1

lightening is nothing to mess with - anywhere!

ps i insisted the league get the lightening detectors on every field

I live in SW Fl and our little league fields have the detectors. The high school that my two older kids graduated from had a student get stuck and killed while walking off the football field. They were all told to get off the field due to the on coming weather.. he was leaving the field and was hit by a bolt of lightning and was killed... The field is now named after him. When I was young & living up in NY I was leaning on a fence when lightning hit the fence and threw me off of it. Luckily I was fine.. but that tought me never to mess with it. Two years ago, my friend was cooking and pulled her food out of the oven, just as she touched the oven rack, lightning came down thru the oven some how and jolted her. She did end up in the hospital for a few days. That is something I never thought of. I know to stay off the phone, computer & video games, out of the water (even in the house), & to stay away from the windows.... but never thought of touching the oven racks.. but they are metal...
