Orlando Theme Parks Hurricane Update Thread (Direct list of closures related to Disney on page 10)

I'm kind of surprised WDW Transportation is scheduled to end at 6 and not a little bit later. Seems like it would take longer than an hour to clear everyone out of all the locations that are closing at 5pm.
Even using extra buses and unless the parks have emptied out earlier, just the amount of people trying to leave at one time would seem to slow down loading and extend transportation time past the 6pm deadline.

I assume though, Disney wouldn't let guests be stranded somewhere away from their hotels and may extend the time. Still just found it odd to announce it as a 6pm stoppage.

I'd just like to correct one point, in that they do have ride out crews stationed in each of the parks. They are responsible for first assement after the storm has passed, along with basic cleaning and preparations for the next day.

They are not solely in the resorts

Right...I intentionally glossed over that. That's more of an operational thing...the ride out crews in the hotels are there more for "Worst case scenario"

They probably state that to give people some extra urgency in getting out of the parks and back to their resorts. I'm sure as long as there are still guests at a park, they'll keep the buses going. Boats/monorail are another story.

I get the tree houses because of height but why the bungalows? As far as pets, I would think those in RVs could just stay but I would have a problem were I there and they asked me to put my dog in boarding. She is tiny small and very submissive and can't be in populations with other dogs.

I'm thinking because they might be under water.

People are in the Disney bubble when there on site. It's hard to see what's coming when you've got a fast pass planned at 5pm and ADRs at BoG at 7pm... If it isn't in front of them then it isn't a reality.

Does anyone know if there is a Walt Disney World Webcam? I wanted to try to watch the weather that is going on there tomorrow. Port Canaveral has turned there's off.
We are going to try to go their Saturday as planned.

Used to be one from the train station, pointing down main street, but haven"t seen it in years, so don"t know if it is still in use.

Exactly I'm sure they'll run as long they need to, to get people back to the resorts.

None right now that I know of. They might not be working anyways.

Hotels...not parks.

They don't station much in the way of personnel in the non active areas for storms...but you're got 30,000 rooms that are filled probably 75% with mostly inexperienced crowds...so it's beneficial to have some prepped staff hanging out.

-and mostly you hang out...so it's really good for the younger staff...because that's what they would do back at apartment anyway.

Rideout crews are responsible for securing loose items in the parks prior to storm, Assisting with guests at resorts during the storm, and cleanup prior to park re open after the storm.

The reason they are stoping transportation at 6pm is the workers got to go home to ride out the storm and don't want to be stuck at Disney because stupid guests want to shop some more
You both got it correct. Get the people to rush, that way they can get cast home. However with that being said, guests will not be left stranded. There will be transport staff in duty to get guests where they need to be, always.

Is there a link for the webcam?
WDW no longer has a 24/7webcam. It's only brought up for special events.

My family went through hurricane Charlie and the CM's where great they handed out flashlights for every room and had activities for the kids in the lobby before we where told we had to stay in our rooms as the storm passed over Orlando, we never lost power during the storm. Interesting the parks will be closed on Friday, when Charlie hit the parks did close early the day of the storm then opened later than normal the next day, but they did open up the next day other than one of the water parks stayed closed, and I think it was Typhoon Lagoon because of all the trees down, the EPCOT monorail was closed because of some trees down over the track. Thinking of everyone at Disney for the next day and a half but you'll be ok, and back to enjoying your vacation by Saturday.

I think Animal Kingdom was closed the day after, too.

saw this pic online. anyone know if the umbrellas are in a hole in the concrete? might be that they simply hadn't collected them up yet.

This sounds terrible but is there any pictures or videos from today? I have always been curious about the prep and premature closings like this. I know there's that excellent video on Charlie taken in All Star Sports but this would be more recent and the clouds looked lovely today from the few pictures I saw. Hopefully the response to this doesn't come fast, please don't feed into my morbid curiosity

Cast members are saying they're being moved to 'hurricane hours' tomorrow. Magic Kingdom is packed tonight with cast members and locals since all the schools have been cancelled.

Stay safe:goodvibes

Same to anyone else at the parks. Good luck everyone.
