Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

I want to wish a very merry Christmas to my second family. If I'm not with the kids and grandkids, there's no one I want to "be with" than you folks!!! I love you all!

you all have been there with us , enjoying our good times, and I have felt all your hugs during the not-so-good times.

so I hope you are all enjoying the day that was chosen to celebrate the day God became a man. He went on to live a perfect life (the only one who has ever done that) and then took on all of our sins while He died on the cross. He conquered death by rising from the grave, and all of us who believe He is God, and paid the price for our sins, will live forever with Him.

so Happy birthday Jesus, and Merry Christmas to you all!!!!
love you!

To all my DIS friends, a very Merry Christmas. These past couple of weeks have been very disturbing; DW is a teacher in a "beacon" school, and recent events in Connecticut bring the difficulty and danger of her job too close to home. And then comes Rochester; sometimes it feels like the spirit of the season is dying. Please take the time to hold loved ones close, and always remember to live like today may be your last.

I thank you all for keeping my happy place alive through all these months. The next visit "home" is getting close!

Nebo, I caught up to within 6 pages last week, but have dropped back to about 10. One more day off work to get caught up; I'll do my best. Tomorrow is Boxing Day - the equivalent of Black Friday in Canada. DS and I are off hunting electronic deals, but the girls will all be out longer, leaving me time to read tomorrow. All the best to everyone!

OMG, baby feet and baby butt! So stinkin' cute Buzz!

Jill in CO

Buzz, that outfit is adorable!

Thanks Jill and Marita! I thought the Santa behind was too cute!

I'm just getting back from our last get together, with my mom's family. She has 8 brothers and sisters and there was just entirely way too much food there. It was so good though! The best was a chocolate cake for dessert made with dark chocolate and a chocolate cream cheese frosting. Forget sugar plums, visions of that cake will dance in my head anytime I want something chocolatey in the near future.

Too late!

Talk about a set up!

Oh shoot! There goes my reputation, but wait it was already gone with the first post in any Nebo TR, right? You know, the "if you can't beat em, join em philosophy". ;)

Smidgy, this was a beautiful post! Thank you for posting this as it is so fitting to end Christmas Day remembering the real reason we celebrate it. We had a small family birthday party for Jesus with the kids last Friday night with pizza and a mini cake from the grocery store. I want them to know why we really celebrate Christmas so we have been doing this since DS was little.

God bless you for writing such a heartfelt and meaningful post.

Finally all caught up.
I do remember Clutch Cargo! Weird real lip thing,,,,thought it was awesome as a kid!
I hope everyone had a terrific Christmas!
Smidgey, beautiful post...

Happy Boxing day to those that are celebrating that!

KIM

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I have been absent from the DIS as I've been spending the holiday with family. Smidgy - beautiful post, nice to be reminded of the reason for the season.
As you all can see from my ticker I'll be at Disney very, very soon :cool1: If anyone would like a postcard from the world PM me and I'll be happy to send you some Disney magic!

Right quick because Santa is TIRED!!

Nebo, I thought you and Pkondz might enjoy my story. It was impossible to pass up the opportunity to recount it, what with the great Pkondz comment about the plane a few pages back. When the sighting and subsequent story almost literally giftwrapped itself for Christmas, well, I couldn't not post it. ;)

Where would we be without creativity?

Where would we be? Still members of the Dis?

Way to keep me up late on Christmas Eve, people!

Luckily, my duties are done! We host a big dinner shindig every year on Christmas Eve for the extended famiy. Turkey, Honeybaked ham and all the fixings. This started 40 years ago (sans ham),

But now Ham is a member of the estended family?
I'm glad.

when the family was far smaller. Now it's 25 people cramming into the living room. Dinner is eaten on your lap(wiht a plate) or whatever surface one can find. Grandpa got a tray table though! Presents just for the little kids from the extended family. And the little kids keep coming....

You know, I don't think it's the kids that keep coming.... just sayin'.
(oh, that will get me in trouble)

After everyone left, we did presents for the immediate family, first time including my daughters' intended. And my son is home on leave :goodvibes (yes, from Montana, Nebo, good memory). Since we shipped a lot of presents directly to Montana, we improvised and put slips of paper in a cup for him to pull out to see what he got.

I'll be he was real excited to get slips of paper for Christmas.

This time of year is always stressful for me. Hubby insists on this big dinner, I would much rather just do appetizers, but I lose evey time and I gave up..he wants his turkey sandwiches... It's over now and I can relax tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to our DISfunctional family!!!:santa:

So what do you do for Christmas in Orlando? Decorate the house in pampas grass and love bugs? Is Deep Woods Off a popular Christmas present, along with 60 sunblock? merry Christmas Marita

Merry Christmas my friends! God's blessings to all of you!

even me?

To answer your question Nebo we are staying 2/9-2/13, just a quickie!

4 nights, that's great, did you request a specific area? And the lunch buffet there is great.

As a long time lurker on Nebo reports I am signing on to say Merry Christmas to everyone. I had an enjoyable evening catching up on this report and looking forward to more exploits.

Welcome Buckeye, looks to me like somebody is a big DVC fan here, congratulations! And congrats on getting rid of Tressel and getting a real coach in there. Now, if you can get him to stay for more than 2 years.....

you mean you want me to be on a respirattor with tubes running down my nose?
happy holidays to you too, Micah.

Well, if yoiu insist on hunting electronic deals, this IS the season, just don't exceed your limit, or take the plug out of the 12 guage.

Finally all caught up.

KIM

Hi Kim, is this like Boxing Helena Day?

I'll be he was real excited to get slips of paper for Christmas.

Hey, better than having nothing to open. He still got more stuff that we have to ship. But he was funny, he'd pick out a slip of paper and pretend to scrunch up wrapping paper and throw it toward the trash bag.
One "we are too old for this" anecdote He wanted wireless headphones, he told hubby, who asked me to order them. Fine, I did, got him the same ones I have, nice ones. Should have known that was too easy: He wanted Gaming headphones that let you talk to oher gamers on the internet. Didn't even know those existed :confused3

It was finally time for the Mummy, even though I really wanted to do this at night, only there wasn't going to be a "night" here at the Studios, since it closes at six.

There was a fifteen minute wait for the Mummy.

Ha! We flashed our cards and were on in 5.

Let's see, does Disney have an indoor themed roller coaster? Yes, two to be exact, but I'm going to use Rock'n Roller Coaster in the head to head. I'm sorry, Space Mountain is just a Wild Mouse ride in the dark.

Now I'm going to get people mad at me, but I choose The mummy as the winner, a lot better theming, cooler effects and generally more fun. It's also a longer ride, RRC doesn't last two minutes.

I realized I didn't comment much on the last chapter. I'll comment more later, but I wanted to address this issue. You were right when you said you would have a lot of people mad at you. Well ok, so I'm only one person, but you're still going to have one person mad at you.

Mummy against RnRC. Really?!
can't%20believe.gif

I personally would've done the Space Mountain v. Mummy comparison. Both are inside and both do not have loops, unlike RnRC that does. Just having returned from a trip to US/WDW myself, I would give Mummy the win over SM, but not over RnRC. IMO, RnRC is just way, WAY BETTER. Faster take off, more speed, inversions and you get to jam to Aerosmith. And for some reason, Mummy seems like a short ride as well. I remember it being much longer the first time I rode it. :confused3

We will agree to disagree on this one my friend.

Wow, this bus doesn't slow down for long, does it?? I stepped away from the computer for the holidays and the other TR is done and over and the new one is 34 pages in!!! I have got to stick closer to the computer. First off, congrats on the new baby, Buzz!!! :) Secondly, I'm heading back to catch the rest of the report. Don't get too far ahead of me, please.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. :)

Arrrrggg. I was so far behind that it took me two days to catch up.

I must commend Nebo and Ponzi for their relative maturity with all the beaver and quickie talk. I was giggling like an adolescent boy.

Love the room tour! What a great upgrade! For the record-I detected no accent.

I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday!

That is why a lot of gift cards change hands when we get together, that's sthe kind of thing he should buy himself. For me it's always Diseny Gift Cards, that's all I ask for. "All right! hey baby, we are now upgraded to Mom's Night Out from the hamburger at the food court on our next trip to POP. And I thhink we can swing a cheesecake for desert even." :cheer2:

take it easy there little Bunny Boy;
Yes, it is like apples and oranges, but nothing matched up totally. All 3 are in the dark, only one goes upside down, but going upside down got old 30 years ago! Twp are train rides, one is a single car type, so I matched up the train types. Yes, i love the launch in RRC, but that's the entire best part of the ride and believe me, it's no where near the Dragster or Kingdom Ka. The Mummy also laid the groudwork for the track switching and reversal of direction that Disney used. And the scenery and effects are extensive compared to the neon lights in RRC, Yes, I am also saying that Space Mountain comes in third, iconic as it is.

Wow, this bus doesn't slow down for long, does it??

if it falls below 50 MPH none of us can get fastpasses for 3 years!
I stepped away from the computer for the holidays and the other TR is done and over and the new one is 34 pages in!!! I have got to stick closer to the computer.

or skip holidays

First off, congrats on the new baby, Buzz!!! :)

first, its' not the "new baby Buzz" , No, uh uh. Not baby buzz. Buzz is not the new baby. You see, Buzz is the creator of the new baby, but she didn't NAME the new baby buzz. So you should have typed, Congrats on the new baby, Buzz!,,,,, um, which is what you did, so never mind.
Secondly, I'm heading back to catch the rest of the report. Don't get too far ahead of me, please.

Trust me, that will be easy.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. :)

Arrrrggg. I was so far behind that it took me two days to catch up.

i don't think you read my last the kids just keep coming comment.
Love the room tour! What a great upgrade! For the record-I detected no accent.

That's really hard to do, just start talking into a machine that I can't play back to hear myself until I get it loaded into Photobucket, and think of things to say.

I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday!

You too Ms Engel and all 4 of your kids. Whoa, a member for 5 years and up to 3, count em, 3 posts now. Glad to see you Englel.

True, when it comes to my maturity level, it's all relative.

Hey, are you still going to work on the last chapter or did you doit already and I missed it?

Oh, you did mumble something, guess I didn't hear it.

I like that. I'm gonna have to steal it.

The line... not the bag...

There seem to be two types of baggage returners (three if you count dumping them all in a pile).
The first kind is an oval or circle that brings up the suitcase from the bowels of the airport and then the bag goes round and round.
The second kind is where the bag comes out from behind a curtain, follows a track for a while then disappears behind another curtain. Eventually, it comes out again.

I think its a game they play back there, they rip off all the ties and ribbons and stickers, and each time throush they add another back onto the back until it's recogniczed.
Kind of like an old game show in reverse, "Camoflage".

I've always thought that while passengers are waiting and watching the bags come and go, there are baggage handlers on the other side watching as well.

"Hey, Bob. Here comes that big brown one with the orange ribbon again."
"Yup. That's what? It's second time through here?"
"Yeah. Let's take it off for a minute or two just to mess with people."
"Okay, you do that while I keep changing the order of the other bags."

NOW you got it!

You'd think that... and you'd be wrong. Pretty sure we've always had to wait for that last bag.

Never happened to us either. But I'm sure there was a sinking sensation in your gut going on.

Absolutely. I was already thinking aobut what clothes I had to replace, shoes, books, liquor,,,,,,,,my mind shut down. Not to mention that I don't even have a suitcase to store them in!

"Hey Bob, let's take some of these bags and start putting them over here!"

that guy talking to Bob is about to have a contract put on himself.

That's weird. You'd think one of you would've seen it earlier. And I'm sure you weren't embarrassed in the least.

You are rigtht, NOT. I just think that they couldn't put it on the conveyor untill the gorilla got done playing with it.

A few years ago, I went to a higher end luggage store and bought Ruby some expensive luggage. The stuff is super lightweight and if it ever gets damaged (by you, the airline, the toothless cab driver.... doesn't matter) they'll fix it for free. If they can't fix it, they give you a new one.

Who needs a new toothless cab driver?

What a load of BS. I bet he could take plastic but can skim if he takes cash. Wouldn't you love to have a waiver that the driver has to sign before the trip starts stating that they will accept credit or you will not be liable for payment?

Or how about this, "So I owe you $30? And you won't take my credit card even though you said you could? No problem, I don't have any cash on me, but if you'll just wait half an hour or so, I should be able to get some cash for ya."

You are not far off from what DID happen a bit later on.

It looked pretty nice from the research I did.

Right, The Safari Inn in Murfreesboro Tenn. looked nice in the brochure, too. Remember that one?
Cockroaches were picketing the motel for having unsanitory conditions. :lmao:

I'm calling hogwash. Oh, sure, you probably told Smidgy that you could save $200 by going a day early. But factor in the cost for the extra hotel day, plus meals and any incidentals and you're probably breaking even at best or even losing money.

Au Contraire ye of little faith. It really did save us 220 to fly previous day, Doubletree cost is 93 total with tax, about at a 12 buck taxi ride from there to Royal Pacific, but yes wie did eat at Fridays that night...We still ended up close to sixty extra bucks on the black side, plus the extra day, and I don't really count eating at Fridays, since even if we stayed home, we were goin g to eat something anyway.

The real reason is you saw an opportunity to go a day early on vacation at little to no cost and grabbed it. Which is of course the smart thing to do anyway.

Didn't i just say that?:)

Too bad you didn't take a snap of it. A large hot tub is a rare thing at a hotel.
Then again, I'd probably get annoyed if I'm trying to relax in the hot tub and every minute or two you come by doing laps.

Coronada Springs has the biggest one on properties. This one blew it away. when I first looked at it, I thought it was what must be a huge Warm Tub, and almost jumped in, whichy would have been a big mistake, it was around a 105 in there.
As I kept easing, slowly easing my way in, I kept hearing, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" yeah, the Christmas Spirit was in me, so was pictureing teh lobsters atNarcoosee's.

I always think the same thing too. But then I either don't look (not one single time in Hawaii) or it's not far away enough to make a difference I guess.

I can easily get sidetracked on astronomy and such. Hey, wanna here my diatribe on Dusk and Dawn again?
It's good! Cast members just LOVE it when you bring it up to them.

What a great Smidgy shot. Boy she sure looks happy! :goodvibe

You forgot cough, hack, gag.

Marita, yu have a phrase for that,,, can't rember it now,,give!

Of course, ‘cause you quit.

YES I KNOW I QUIT, OK, NOW LAY OFF
geesh

To me, that’s more impressive then the upgrade itself. In my experience, rooms are never ready before noon.

Well of course not, where you live it's pitch black at the stroke of noon, and it's also ten oclock then!

Two things.
1. I’ve never been the type to peak at the Christmas presents before December 25, so I didn’t even glance at the other vids.
2. Is Dianne’s maiden name Parkinson? She did a great Price is Right job for the chair by the window.

Afaid you lost me in the price is right ref. never really seen it. wel, ok, except the blooper where teh one woman ran up aftetr being called and her tube top decided to not be so tubish anymore.

Wow! Nice score!

That is a pretty sweet deal. I was telling Ruby about it and she was impressed too.

Right now, the only rides you can't get front of the line access to is Forbidden Journey and Rip Ride, Rocket

Next time, go when the parks are empty. It’ll make things a lot smoother for ya.

A revue is a show you view, no?
Yes, and i know where you are going here:
so, technically, you can review a revue, but you must see it twice, first, otherewise you are just viewing a revue, right? and oh gosh, look at the time.

Yeah, and I’m sure the cute girls in the short skirts don’t hurt none, either.

That would be Hip and HOP,, they were NICE girls.

What’s even funnier is that I have no idea if that was in the show or if you just made it up.

Spoiler alert:

Yeah, that was actually in the show, and well done too.

The trash can didn’t see you, Kemosabe?

TrashCan Man didn't see me, nor did the Walkin' Dude, or Tom Cullen or Larry Underwood or Nadine Cross,,,

Oh, boy! I can’t wait to see what happens next! This is gonna be awesome!!

Right

Okay. Not quite as awesome as I was expecting, but… Bravo, Smidgy. Well done. Hip, hip and all that.

Ha, score one for Uni. But is that the only time you used the cards that day?

No, she used them often, but as time went on they were becomeing more and more unnecessary as people left their vacations to go back home as we moved further away from Thanksgiviing weekend.

It’s been a long time, but… ::yes::

How could I get mad? I’ve got nothing to compare it with. I’ll take your word for it until I get the chance to see for myself, I guess.

:goodvibes:

That’s so weird. I’ve heard the same thing.

Thanks for the chapter, dude! :goodvibes:

I just think that they couldn't put it on the conveyor untill the gorilla got done playing with it.

Ever wonder just how many suitcases did they have to go through to get all that film footage?

Who needs a new toothless cab driver?

Well, you. Apparently the last toothless cab driver you had wasn't very accommodating.

As I kept easing, slowly easing my way in, I kept hearing, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire"

Who's Ches? Chet? From the Hardy Boys? And why is he roasting his n.... nevermind.

yeah, the Christmas Spirit was in me, so was pictureing teh lobsters atNarcoosee's.

When Elle was about 4 years old, we rented a cabin with an indoor hot tub. You couldn't adjust the temperature and boy, was it hot! But Elle loved it. I had bought her a little fishing line with a magnet on the end it also came with plastic fish with metal noses. She had tons of fun in that hot tub, fishing away. We eventually hauled her out. She was happy.... and beet red.

Dian Parkinson was one of the original Barker's Beauties. She quit then sued Bob for sexual harrassment, though.

What a great Smidgy shot. Boy she sure looks happy! :goodvibe

You forgot cough, hack, gag.

Marita, yu have a phrase for that,,, can't rember it now,,give!

HUH? I say in my eloquent way. I have no clue what you are referring to.

nebo;47014484 take it easy there little Bunny Boy; Yes said:
The Dragster? Really? Don't get me wrong, I love the Dragster and the take off/45 degree angle is one awesome combo, but that two hour wait for a 2 second ride? Gimme a break. At least RnRC gets me my monies worth. And yes loops went out awhile ago, but loops in the dark. . . now were cooking with oil, :lmao: It's SM on steroids!!! (Nah, still feeling the Dragster? Well, I had to try, I've done my Disney fan duty lol).
