Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how far the Sanford airport is from Disney? It appears to be quite a distance from Orlando, but I don't think I'm getting a clear picture.

I can get super cheap airfare, but it's flying into Sanford. I would have to arrive a day earlier (OH THE HORROR!!!!:rotfl2:) but that would not be an issue. I'm thinking that once we drive out to Kissimmee, we really wouldn't have to worry about the distance til we were ready to leave Florida, but I'm wondering if there are some hidden reasons to NOT use this airport???:confused3

Also, are there any parking passes, or Disney tickets that include parking? I'm assuming it's going to be up to $15 per day by the time we go. That's a lot of money over 10 days! Anybody found any ways to lower that price? And no, we won't be at a hotel with a shuttle. We are staying in a timeshare. We will have a rental car.

Thank you very much for any and all help and opinions!!

I agree with DebbieB. If you aren't staying on-site the only way to get free parking is with an annual pass.

Using the Sanford airport is fine as long as your aren't planning on using DME (which it doesn't appear as though you are).

Sanford is between 45-60 mins to WDW...about 15+ mins longer than the ride from MCO.
I got a terrific set of fares for April vacation next year, flying into Sanford. It's a great little airport...very easy to get around. It's very compact and user friendly. You shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks very much everyone!

I don't think I'll be uprading to the Annual Pass, it doesn't make sense to pay the difference which would be more than the parking cost. Good to know, though!:thumbsup2

15 minutes or a bit more isn't a big deal. Definitely worth it for the lower fare and the ease of a smaller airport. I'm sure that connecting with a rental car is easier at Sanford than it is at MCO, too.

Happy Planning!:woohoo:

For those renting a car anyway, Orlando Sanford can be a GREAT deal. For those that will use a taxi or private car service, the airfare savings would quickly be eaten up.

It took us less than 45 minutes to get from Sanford to POFQ. It was a fast, easy drive. We couldn't believe it. When we have taken Magical Express it has taken longer than that to get to the hotel. We were on property os parking would have been free but the buses were so easy breezy we never used the car.

We loved Sanford, I recommend it.
