Does anyone shop at the Orlando Premium Outlets while on vacation in Orlando? If you do what are some of the must stop at shops? How do you time your shopping at the outlets with your vacation? TIA Tink

Premium Outlets, near Mary Queen of the Universe Basilica is not the greatest place to shop.

The prices are not that great, and the products are often off market, and seconds so you are not really getting much of a deal.

Prime Outlets (the old Beltz Outlets) at the "end" of Internation Drive are a bit better, but again not a true outlet place.

We usually zip to the outlets for an hour or two. I try to go 1st thing inthe AM, before they get too crowded.

Like any other shopping, you have to know your prices, because some of the stuff really isn't any value.

We also have only certain stores we go to....I certainly don't schlep in & out of every store.

Thanks for the reply. I am interested in the Dooney and Bourke outlet. I read they have two locations in Orlando. I also would like to go to the Vera Bradley store. What are your thoughts on those two stores?

Just adding that parking is crazy! I try to avoid that area at all cost. I never buy anything there. The merchandise is marked up for the international tourists. As a local, I can do better going to any of the local malls.

I have been a couple of times, the first time didn't find great prices at Dooney the second time I did!

Both times found great buys at Coach.

The Coach store has some really great deals at the Prime Outlets.
Park in the back. Not a far walk and there seems to always be spaces to park in.

I went to the outlets a lot on my CP. I found some horrible deals, some not so good deals, and some great deals. I only bought when I found a great deal, and managed to get those at Guess, and Armani Exchange of all places. I did get a pair of Puma's for $50 one day, but you can get that on sale anywhere. I got a $99 dress at Armani Exchange for under $10 one day.

The Vera Bradley store didn't seem to have any deals at all. My room mate paid about $60 a bag for the large duffles. Regular retail price for those is about $85. To me, $25 an $85 item isn't worth it, but ymmv.

Parking is a nightmare. My advice is to park at the garage...it's to the right of the main entrance off Lake Buena Vista drive.

It is very crowded with international tourists. The food court is always crowded and isn't that great, but there are some restaurants nearby. There is also a Publix down the road not even a mile past the outlets. A bonus of the outlets is they were open until 11 when I was there in the springtime and it was much nicer shopping during the last few hours. If you're a night owl it's worth it to skip the daytime crowds and come late.

Overall, I found more deals at the Florida Mall, but that is further away and still has the problems of being touristy and crowded.

I go to the one by Mary, Queen of the Universe as well each trip. I think the thing is that if you know what you're looking for, it can be a good deal. For the example with the duffle, if I was looking for one here at home at $85, and I knew I was going to be at the outlet in a couple weeks anyway, yes, saving $25 to walk a little out of my way would be very worth it. I do NOT go just to wander in and out of store and see if I can find someone to buy-as a PP noted, you can frequently get better deals elsewhere.

I usually hit the Disney Outlet (tee shirts, selection can be very hit-or-miss), the Crocs outlet (usually find something half price) and the Vera Bradley outlet (a lot of gawking, not usually a lot of buying). As with the Crocs, I don't go just to go buy myself any old pair of Crocs-I have very narrow feet and there are 2 styles that work for me-if they have them in my size and colors I like, sure, I'll buy them at half price. If they don't, I leave. At the Disney outlet, I will say, my favorite, most frequently worn Disney shirts came from the outlet over my last several trips. I must just like the ones no one else likes! For VB, If I'm looking for something in particular when I go (Ereader case, change purse, mini hipster) I may pick it up there if they have the patterns I like; the discount prices are not enough for me to get something I am not particularly fond of.

I am usually in and out in an hour or less, and I wholeheartedly agree, parking is awful. Go for the parking garage, but be warned, even that can be pretty hairy.

Vera Bradley usually has an additional % off and if you shop the clearance AND you sign up at their website you get another 20.00 off of 75. So I needed to get gifts for some of the girls in my class. I got 5 shoulder bags in
the black and rose print (name escapes me) They were 19.99 (usually 42) I got 20% off and then an additional 20.00 off the total. SO I got 210 worth of product for 63.00 inc tax. That is a pretty good savings. Also, I got a 20 GC for my bday from them. NO strings attached and you can use it in the OUTLET.

SOOOOO I do recommend the Vera Bradley store if you are into those bags. Even if you are flying the bags are light and foldable so you can pack a lot of Christmas gifts.

Florida mall is icky IMHO

I don't care for either of those lines, so can't comment on the shops. I will say however, that the best bargains I've ever found in the Central Florida area come from full retail stores that are running sales.

For example, I purchased a Tumi suitcase at Bloomingdale's for $200 less than the "outlet" price, and the bag was not a second, or an overrun or one that was at the end of it's production.

Sales are not as convenient, and are less so for visitors, but they are the mechanism for true bargains unlike the outlet shops.

I went for the first time this past January and I did buy quite a bit. The Converse outlet was having a sale with some really good buys, other than that the prices at that store were the same as retail. Bass had some ok buys, but I really don't care for their stuff. HOWEVER>>>>>> I RACKED UP at Coach. They had some great Clearance prices and I found a small handle bag with lavender interior that was regularly $189. They MISMARKED it to $45. They had about 7 on clearance and there were 3 mismarked at $45 and the other 4 were $129. When I walked to the counter they rang up as $129 but they honored the $45 price after some confusion between employee and manager (I never said a word, I just let them handle it). The manager immediately scurried over to make sure that there were no more marked like that. I bought all 3 and gave 2 as Christmas gifts!

The Tanger outlets in Mebane aren't too far from my home, so normally I don't do outlet shops on vacation, but it was worth it this time!
