The shopping malls are great, particulaly Caesars Forum Shops, they have a brilliant FAO Shwarz (spelling!) that I'm sure your 10 year old would get a kick out of. Circus Circus has a theme park and is the hotel most set up for kids.

Enjoy!

the amusement park at circus circus is nice, but i wouldn't stay in the hotel if i were you...
the hotels in Las Vegas are extremely reasonable compared with other places, so I would aim higher than Circus Circus..

my first choice would be the Venetian....all rooms are suites.....
but with a 10 year old, your first choice should probably be Mandalay Bay - they have a superb beach like pool area, with sand, lazy river, etc etc...

as for shows, you can probably find a list online....Blue Man Group is usually playing there..

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is great fun, if you have a car, drive to Red Rock Canyon. It is about a 45 minute drive from the strip. It has hiking trails, water falls (snow melt needed) and lots of fresh air if the smoke is getting too much.

There is a lion exhibit at MGM, it’s not huge but something to see. The Rain Forest Café is also at MGM.

There is a Knights Tournament dinner show at Excalibur Hotel.

Also wanted to add, BMI now fly direct Las Vegas to Manchester on Thursdays and Sunday. :thumbsup2

I never knew they still had any left open! I was gutted when they closed the one in Orlando after going into administration. Might have to pay a trip to Las vegas now ;)

Thanks every one for all the above.

do keep them comin.

Carolfoy I'd love to hear about your trip when you get back.

We are thinking of doing Orlando 1st as I think it will be easier if we are with the kids when we enter USA. Any thoughts?

As I understand they still have 2 flagship stores, one in New York and one in Las Vegas.

Aha, I thought the one in New York had gone too. Glad to hear that's not the case :teeth:

Sorry to go OT

Personally we'd rather do the longer flight first and also the jet lag will be worse if you fly back from LV.

Hi as mentioned by paulh , we're doing disneyland ,grandcanyon and vegas in june. We're staying in the luxor in vegas -i can't wait. This thread has been very helpful :thumbsup2 :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the help folks, We aren't staying in the circus circus as to be honest, we've been to A LOT of circuses so can't be bothered with that at all but a trip to mandalay bay will definately be on the agenda as will the Luxor hotel (Callum has a thing for ancient egypt) of course will have to get at least one mall trip in for me.
I'll do a mini trippie when I get back, Callums doing a video diary for his school ( a special dispensation as he'll be out for another week so the school allow him the time off if he does a 'show and tell' about his trips for the whole school)

I'll be in Vegas for a couple of days in april so I'll check it out! I haven't really decided on what to do there yet apart from visit a couple of the hotels. Any suggestions? Not keen on cirque type shows and have a 10 year old with me so the casinos are out of the question.
In November I went to see the Celine Dion show at Caesars Palace, and whilst I'm not a fan of hers I was blown away by it. The special effects were amazing and she did a pretty good job too ;) I saw quite a lot of kids in the audience and I bet they enjoyed it.

I've stayed at Luxor and loved it, but I prefer the centre Strip (Paris is a favourite) because of the night-time 'specials': the dancing fountains at Bellagio, Volcano at Mirage and Pirate battle at Treasure Island. Plus the shops at Caesars, The Venetian and Desert Passage at Aladdin are all centre Strip.

I'm there again for a couple of days in early March so if you need anything specific, just ask.

we got married in vegas in nov 2002, we loved it, its a mind blowing place, its very similar to WDW in that its jaw dropping, as the things to see are amazing, the shops the hotels and the thrill rides were fab, everyone we met was very friendly and the atmosphere was completely non threatening. we stayed at circus circus but had a good nose around all the hotels, I have always wanted to go back with the kids, they are 7 & 9 and they would love it.
next year is my 40th birthday and we are planning a mega trip, definately NY and Orlando but I am secrertly hoping we can run to the trip verity did with NY, LV and orlando.
I am not a big fan of scenery, usualy no shops there! and I live in wales so we have plenty of scenery of our own!but the grand canyon was amazing, we did the heli copter trip and landed in the canyon for a champagne brunch, when we flew back it was going dark on the strip and the lights were amazing! it was our sort of honeymoon as we had got married a few hours before!
in short...go to vegas its fab! :moped: :teeth:
