Im hoping you guys might be able to give me some ideas for hotels in Orlando.

So the story is DD will be competing at world championships which is being held in WDW. The earliest we can arrive and check in to WDW as part of the athlete package is Wednesday 23/4. However the team has decided to make use of the Easter break and head over on Friday 18/4.
Previously we have had been to Daytona beach one year and Tampa another year for a week or so.
This year we are looking at spending the 5nights in Orlando. So I have been given the task of finding somewhere to stay. Now some of these girls are on a tight budget and being Easter prices are at a premium.
We are just wanting something basic but clean, with either free shuttles or access to public transport, so they can hit the shops, visit universal/seaworld or whatever they want to do for the five nights before heading to WDw.
I have looked at lots of hotels around lake beuna vista area, universal area etc.
Just wondering what area you would recommend for easy access to Orlando
I have looked at different springhill suites, home wood suites etc, also checked out bonnet creek, Windsor hills etc. proximity to Disney is not a priority as we will have our time in Disney after this.
Although this will be my 4th trip to Orlando I have only stayed on site so haven't really ventured out into Orlando.
I have asked on TRipadvisor but haven't got great feedback as yet.
For this elf you that have spent time in Orlando where would you recommend

We stayed at the pointe Orlando resort..it was fantastic.. Nice big rooms with kitchen areas..we were opposite wet n wild, we had shuttles to Universal Studios and on the main road in front of the hotel was the Trams that take you too the shopping outlets along international drive and also down to sea world. We didn't go to sea world though but would have been easy with the tram..if I remember the trams also took you to Downtown Disney .

The link should take you there...we would stay there the next time we go but as the same as you we will be staying on site again. It was also quite cheap.

Hope this helps

Thanks PIO and vicky2jeff.
I have looked at both of these and they both look great.
The TA has already done some costing on LBV resort, it is well located to disney and yes the shopping is great, just not sure how easy it will be to get around Orlando from there.
The pointe is good because it can fit 6 in proper beds, but a little expensive for some of the girls,
Still have no idea....:confused3
